It was an honour for us at the Jindal School of International Affairs (JSIA) of OP Jindal Global University (JGU) to host 35 mid-career Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officers being trained at the Sushma Swaraj Institute of Foreign Service (SSIFS) on our campus in Sonipat for a day-long engagement. The officers learnt about innovations in higher education in India, efforts to improve the quality of International Relations studies in India, the need for deeper synergies between diplomats and academicians, and the way forward for achieving our shared national goal of Viksit Bharat and leading power in the world by 2047. We remain committed to supporting capacity-building initiatives of our Ministry of External Affairs!

Why has the Russia-Ukraine war dragged on endlessly?
Did the world underestimate Russia’s will to keep on fighting despite the Western pushback?
Why has Ukraine not caved in in spite of severe losses and waning support from the USA?
Is the rearming of Europe likely to deter future wars and stabilise the continent or trigger an arms race?
What makes India’s efforts as a peacemaker or mediator credible, and what are its chances of success?
For answers, watch Episode 188 of the Indian Diplomacy TV show on Doordarshan, featuring analysis by Dr. Sonia Lucarelli, Professor of International Relations and European security at the University of Bologna, Italy.

GAP's work as a longitudinal research initiative placed at IDEAS is of critical, empirical relevance at a time when good quality survey data is limited on key social policy questions- the research team's work across the last two years have produced two grounded field-study driven annual reports (a Phase I baseline study in 2025: https://t.co/hAx8G0vssa ) & our latest Phase II (2026) study: https://t.co/7dwyrAPCyB attempting to create a multi-dimensional approach to understanding youth-aspirations and mobility (the field cluster is positioned in JJ Colony, Bawana, and near Narela industrial corridor of NCR)... For any inputs/feedback on the study, please write to [email protected]
The war-weary world is waiting for an influential, trustworthy and reliable country that can mediate and facilitate peace. As a rising power with an autonomous and balanced foreign policy, India is best placed to play this role. It should shed past inhibitions to become a proactive peacemaker. Do read my lead column in Hindustan Times and share your thoughts on this subject.

It was an honour for me to moderate a session in a day-long literary festival organised by Valley of Words and O.P. Jindal Global University on the theme of translation of literary works from vernacular to English. I hosted my esteemed colleague and fellow Odia, Ambassador Jitendra Nath Misra, who has edited an outstanding volume titled ‘Radhaland and Worlds Beyond’, an anthology of translated poems by the peerless ‘people’s poet’ of Odisha, Ramakanta Rath. The greatness and universality of Rath’s poetry, and indeed of Odisha’s extraordinary literature as a whole, are not widely known in India and internationally. Thanks to this translated book, more readers with sensitive minds and open hearts worldwide are able to access and benefit from this treasure trove for eternity. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
We were honoured to host Mr. A.P. Parigi, Co-Founder, Radio Mirchi & Times OOH (Out of Home Media)

His lecture invited reflection on self-awareness and the importance of understanding ourselves.

It was a privilege to take part in a closed-door roundtable convened yesterday by the Motwani Jadeja Institute for American Studies of O.P. Jindal Global University (JGU), on the recent meeting between President Xi Jinping and President Donald Trump and its implications for Asia.
The Washington summit produced a short extension of the economic truce, limited commercial understandings, and new working channels on artificial intelligence and crisis communication. It did not settle the structural questions that shape the regional order: Taiwan, technology controls, critical minerals, or maritime coercion in the East and South China Seas.
For Asia, the immediate effect is a pause rather than a settlement. A temporary easing of great-power friction can cushion supply chains and lower the risk of miscalculation. It does not reduce the need for partners to read both capitals carefully, diversify dependencies, and keep their own strategic space intact.
Grateful to colleagues at the MJIAS, and to external participants for a focused and substantive discussion. Formats of this kind remain essential if scholarship is to stay ahead of the next round of summitry, including the meetings expected at APEC and the G20.
