Thrilled to have won the @KingsCollegeNHS award for ‘Overall Outstanding FY1 Trainee’ - thank you to those that nominated me!
I have worked with some fantastic doctors and surgeons this year and have learnt so much… am looking forward to staying at King’s for another year 🏥
We Must Pace the Frontier: I’ve written a new essay on why the AI industry should slow down, with a three-part plan for doing so.
Anthropic is unilaterally committing to the first of these steps. We’ll provide third-party evaluators with permanent, employee-level access to our systems, so that they can verify adherence to our safety measures, report on incidents, and assess models’ alignment during training.

As our national colleagues @BMAResidents held constructive talks with @wesstreeting to try avert strike action next week,
And in the context of the @lengreview outputs,
Here’s a reminder of the perverse disparity the current NHS pay structure produces here in the capital.👇🏼
I'm running the Brighton Marathon tomorrow for the Institute for Cancer Vaccines and Immunotherapy. So many cancers have been transformed by immunotherapy, but most importantly to me my Uncle's metastatic melanoma.
Any donations would be appreciated!

MSRA slots going live without an email or any other notification, and relying solely on the good nature of others to let me know are reason No. 92749 why I despise national medical recruitment.
Such. Unnecessary. Stress.
Well said @RobLaurensonD4P
“nor should we be leaving unchallenged the comforting lies that there will be “supervision" particularly when the doublethink of
'autonomous but dependent' is the leading pitch from universities, GMC, and NHS Employers”
💯 underpinned by doublethink
Finishing the year on a high! Really happy to have been awarded funding by @ICS_updates.
Excited to carry on with @drmarkmcphail and @Inst_of_Liver@KingsCritCare looking at how we can reverse immunoparaesis and prevent sepsis in the sickest liver patients.
@KarinPurshouse@BMAstudents@BMA_Academics Agreed. Also the inevitable inequity from some medical schools being in centres with fewer academic places and vice versa. Some medical schools have relatively small cohorts but a large number of academic posts.
Keep it as it is - it’s not perfect but it’s better than this!

@KingsCollegeNHS@kingshealth@drmarkmcphail@KingsCritCare I can't speak highly enough of the AFP and it is a shame it is being curtailed. Given the short supply of clinical academics, we need more programs like this if we want to keep pushing the limits of care.
Prof @charlot_summers has written extensively on this recently - go read!
So that's the end of foundation training!
Two brilliant years on the AFP @KingsCollegeNHS@kingshealth, and 4 months with @drmarkmcphail doing all things translational immunology in liver failure.
Thrilled to stay on as a JCF @KingsCritCare and can't wait to start!
