That's nuts. This script is always included in 'big unmade 90s action spec sale' lists. It's there with Suspension, Gale Force, Afterlife, Ticking Man, Ultimatum, The Dam, Isobar, Blades...I mean the early 90s were treasure troves of high concept specs getting snapped up for huge $ and never getting made. Gemini Man was another example of this. Make 'em all!
EXCLUSIVE: "Reacher" and “War Machine” star Alan Ritchson is in negotiations to topline the Netflix action movie “Maelstrom,” based on a spec script originally sold to Warner Bros. in 1993.
Jaume Collet-Serra, helmer of Netflix’s top-rated original film “Carry-On,” will direct.

@LucioFulciFan Haha! That's awesome. Yeah these guys came out of nowhere for me. They're a good mix of different kind of groups. Sometimes they sound like Ratt/Keel/Dokken/Leatherwolf but more metal. Straight out of the 80s.
'Set in the world of Nightmare on Elm Street'. I don't know. That wording says to me there might not be a Freddy in it. Maybe a different dream demon but with the same rules as Nightmare & some legacy characters?
I am absolutely checking it out. I always wanted this version to be shorter. There was a remake percolating way back in the day (back when all 70s horror movies were apparently ripe for remakes). My friend pitched on it and the take was The Swarm was ALL insects. Not just bees. Like every bug. I thought that was interesting. Sort of like how Frogs was every creature in the swamp wanting revenge.
@GoIntoTheStory I remember when this sold with that title. I also remember this had incredible buzz months before the release. It was like Obsession in that sense. It just hit a sweet spot at the time.
@GoIntoTheStory Did it get made? I'm racking my brain trying to think of what it could be. I almost thought it might be Go but that came out in 98 or 99.
The book The Far Empty by J. Todd Scott (seen being read by Ed Harris on Dutton Ranch) is sold out everywhere. The author was also the writer of the episode. That's definitely some good promo. Taylor was probably like 'dude put your book in the episode...trust me.' It sounds like a cool-as-hell book and Ed Harris' character heartily recommended it.
