It's really surprising how little media coverage this has received. Trump faced no real questions about this issue during the campaign. 1/

@yar_vol Don't kid yourself. Government can do 𝘦𝘯𝘰𝘳𝘮𝘰𝘶𝘴 harm. A small example: Vaccines save 𝘮𝘪𝘭𝘭𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴 of lives per year, & diseases like polio that used to kill and cripple us are all but eradicated. They can & will come back if we stop vaccinating.

@sampullara I believe it *should* work with Google Authenticator, and probably does for some people, but it didn't work for me. I mentioned it to highlight the fact that security stuff is, sadly, far from "it just works."

This hellsite (the platform formerly known as Twitter) bitches at you if you don't have two-factor authentication set up and then tries to make you pay them to enable it. I have never seen 𝘢𝘯𝘺 other website engage in this malodorous behavior.

@sampullara P.S. I did switch to 2FA. Surprisingly, the platform didn't get along with Google's Authenticator, but worked fine with Duo.

@sampullara Good to know. But realistically, few people have hw keys, and only we geeks know how to use Authenticator and its ilk. I've never seen any other site charge for SMS 2FA, so I still think it's a cash grab. But I think we can agree that it's among the least of this site's sins.
