16,500 millionaires left the UK in 2025.

And if you're still there, you're watching this unfold while sitting in one of the worst deals in the developed world.

What are the realistic alternatives in 2026?

First off, UK income tax can reach 45% on earnings over £125,140. Meanwhile, what are you getting:

- NHS wait times at record highs
- Infrastructure crumbling
- Energy costs among the highest in Europe
- 200+ rainy days per year

London gets less annual sunlight than Reykjavik, Iceland.

The government treats productive citizens like ATMs. And now people are voting with their feet. Shadow business secretary Andrew Griffith called it "potentially the biggest reverse migration in British history."

He's right.

When you tax something, you get less of it. The UK is taxing success so heavily that successful people are simply leaving.

This creates a doom loop:

High earners leave > Tax revenue drops > Government raises taxes > More high earners leave

All the talk around high tax hikes did lots of damage.

For anyone running a location-independent business, you have options:

- Dubai: 0% income tax, 0-9% corporate tax, powerful entrepreneurial network, world-class infrastructure
- Portugal: attractive lifestyle, but most people don’t meet the criteria for tax breaks under foreign income
- Malta: effective 5% corporate tax, but heavy bureaucracy, difficult banking and visa issues if you’re non EU
- Cyprus: 12.5% corporate tax, 0% dividend tax, but weaker banking stability and more retirees than young hungry entrepreneurs

The people leaving are successful, have options, and they're choosing to exercise them.

The UK loses its most productive citizens while keeping the tax burden that drove them away.

The remaining taxpayers shoulder an even heavier load.

This is how brain drain starts.

You don't need to be there.
Your business doesn't need to be there.

So, why are you still staying?
