Thank you, North Carolina! I am honored to serve as your next governor. Tonight, we came together to resoundingly embrace a vision that is optimistic, forward-looking, and welcoming. I couldn't have done this without each of you.
North Carolina, dangerously high temperatures are expected for the rest of this week and into the holiday weekend. Please drink a lot of water and stay safe during the hottest parts of the day – because heat exhaustion is no joke. Remember to take care of yourselves and check on your neighbors.
More welcome news from FEMA: More than $215 million in reimbursements are on the way to North Carolina, including continued support for Helene recovery work. I am encouraged that funds are getting out of the door to help communities in western NC rebuild.
With extreme heat expected across North Carolina before the fireworks begin, make heat safety part of your #4thofJuly plans.

No one should have to delay or decline care because they are worried about how much it’ll cost. Today I’m taking executive action by creating a Health Care Affordability Commission to explore data-driven solutions to keep health care costs low for North Carolinians. I look forward to working with @NCTreasurer Briner and @ncdhhs Secretary Sangvai to ensure North Carolinians are able to afford health care where and when they need it.
If you were born in America, you are an American.
That’s what our Constitution promises. And as we mark America’s 250th birthday this weekend, today’s Supreme Court decision gives us the chance to celebrate the rich fabric of our nation that has always made us great.
(2/2) "... We are grateful the situation has been stabilized and that those who responded are safe. NCDPS remains committed to supporting our law enforcement partners as they work to keep North Carolinians safe."
(1/2) Statement from NCDPS Secretary Jeffrey Smythe on the Bertie-Martin Regional Detention Center incident.
"I want to thank our NC ALE agents and our other local, state and federal law enforcement partners for their swift, coordinated response to this incident....
I want to thank and commend the law enforcement officers who restored peace at Bertie-Martin Regional Detention Center today. I am relieved that the officers on duty are now safe and that the situation is stabilized. The perpetrators must be held accountable for this horrifying action. We also must do everything in our power to ensure this doesn’t happen again – and that includes doing more to recruit, retain, and compensate the county and state officials who are charged with keeping our jails and prisons safe.
The ferry is a way of life on the coast. It gets people to work and school and supports emergency services, and it is a critical driver of the region’s tourism economy. The passenger ferry to Ocracoke Island, which is operated by @NCDOT_Ferry and part of the Outer Banks National Scenic Byway.
@FLONC and I were pleased to say thank you to the dedicated staff who keep the ferry system running. We also got to catch some beautiful views!
Thanks to the cast and crew of The Lost Colony outdoor drama for giving us a behind-the-scenes look at the production that’s been an Outer Banks tradition for more than 85 years.
Anna and I are excited to spend our weekend exploring some of what the coast has to offer!
Food banks are critical lifelines for families in need, helping to fill the gaps when other services fall through. When the federal government paused SNAP payments last year, we worked with private partners to send more than $20 million to food banks across the state.
In Kitty Hawk, Beach Food Pantry is making sure people do not go hungry. For more almost four decades, this organization has provided the residents of Dare County with food and essentials in times of crisis. It was great to meet with some of its dedicated volunteers yesterday and spend the morning sorting and distributing food.
Since the beginning of my administration, we have announced more than $1.6 billion in water and wastewater infrastructure investments to make your water safe. @NCDEQ Secretary Wilson joined me in Wilmington to meet with the Moore family, whose well water was polluted with PFOA and PFOS. Thanks to the Bernard Allen Emergency Drinking Water Fund, the family received a water filtration system that cleans their water so they can trust it.
In North Carolina, we are going to do everything we can to remove forever chemicals from our drinking water and keep you safe.
A celebration worth hearing! 🎶
Catch Tift Merritt, Rissi Palmer, and more bringing live music all day long. See you at Capitol 250: NC Freedom Fest on July 4 at the @ncstatecapitol!

When our boys brought home the Stanley Cup, Caniacs proved that Raleigh is ready for the big stage. The excitement, visitors, and economic boost from the Stanley Cup Finals was great for the businesses that call Raleigh home.
Over the past few months, my cabinet secretaries and I have been traveling throughout the state to meet with folks in rural communities and hear more about what is working and what needs attention.
In North Carolina, where you come from shouldn’t limit how far you can go, and we are focused on expanding opportunity in every corner of the state.
