About to go live to discuss Lakers-Clippers, Walker Kessler's impact, Austin Reaves' career-best play, LA's defense, and more: https://t.co/c8Stx2jlft

Three takeaways from the Lakers’ win over the Clippers

[Mike Trudell @LakersReporter]

Walker Kessler looks at the stat sheet: “Oh geez - we had a lot of steals, man. That’s crazy.”

LA had 13 steals, with Kessler and Sexton leading with 3 apiece.

Final: Lakers 125, Clippers 117

LA improves to 2-0. This one was shaky, especially late, but they held on. Austin Reaves (28 pts on 10-13 FG, 9 asts and 6 TOs) was awesome. Walker Kessler had 22 pts, 8 rebs, 6 blks, and 3 stls. Luka had 23 pts, 6 rebs and 7 asts (8-21 FG and 11 TOs).

Up next: @ Utah on Sunday.

Third quarter: Lakers 103, Clippers 90

LAL dominated the third, outscoring LAC 39-26. Austin Reaves has been efficient, with 26 points on 9-11 FGs. Luka has 21 (7-20), 7 assists and 7 turnovers. Matisse Thybulle provided a much-needed two-way boost early in the frame.

[Jovan Buha @jovanbuha]

Austin Reaves has taken over this game. He’s up to 26 points on 9-for-10 shooting. He’s opened the season 15-for-21.

[Jovan Buha @jovanbuha]

@Paradox_EP Yep. He’s been balling out

[Jovan Buha @jovanbuha]

This is some of the best defensive activity I’ve ever seen from Rui Hachimura.

[Jovan Buha @jovanbuha]

@Paradox_EP Fair. It’s mainly been the playmaking/deflections for me. Even when he was good defensively, it was mainly just containing. Never been a big defensive playmaker

[Jovan Buha @jovanbuha]

Halftime: Lakers 64, Clippers 64

LAL outscored LAC 34-20 to close 2Q. Luka has 16 pts (5-14 FGs), 6 asts and 5 TOs. AR has 13 pts. Kessler has 12 pts, 3 blks + 2 stls. Ziaire has 10 pts. Clips are dominating in transition (13-2 edge). Their athleticism has been an issue for LAL.

[Jovan Buha @jovanbuha]

First quarter: Clippers 31, Lakers 27

A rough close to the quarter for the Lakers — they were outscored 11-3. Clips have done a good job stymieing their PnR attack and forcing contested jumpers. They’ve also attacked the paint well. Luka has 6 pts and 5 asts. AR has 6 pts.

[sarah @slothanova]

safe to say Luka missed Rui

JJ Redick said Jake LaRavia wanted to play tonight but after going to the treatment room post-shootaround, it was determined he's just "not there" yet.

The hope is that he'll be back for Sunday at Utah. And if not then, Tuesday vs. Portland.

[Lakers Collective @LakersHMA]

Is Vando JJ Redick's worst nightmare 😂
