Post-flood mitigation operations have intensified in Damfa, where the Flood Mitigation Task Force inspected a heavily encroached retention pond. According to the Task Force, the encroachment has significantly reduced the pond's capacity to retain runoff from the Aburi Hills, increasing the area's flood risk.
During the inspection, an official of the GARID Project briefed the team on the extent of the encroachment and its impact on flood management efforts.

Dredging of major drains is continuing as part of government's post-flood mitigation measures, following a directive for the Ghana Armed Forces to lead the exercise.
Meanwhile, the Flood Mitigation Task Force, led by Brigadier General Forster Okae Yeboah, has earmarked several buildings obstructing waterways in areas including Damfa, Oyarifa and around the Tesa Dam near Boundary Road for demolition.
The decision follows an inspection of key water retention ponds and flood-prone communities by the task force. The inspection team included Deputy Chief of Staff (Operations) Stanislav Dogbe, Minister for Water Resources, Works and Housing Kenneth Adjei, and Commander of the 14 Engineer Brigade, Brigadier General Richard Kinney.
