Tales from #SEBGW2026
Our 1st panel of the day featured seasoned OGs in the Gaming industry - @EbukaGideon_ @Sparda @Elvis__E@Joy__Okoye & @leosam24
They all made one point from different angles: gaming in Africa can pay, if it's built like an economy, not a hobby
Raw truths!
Today @SEBchainGamesWK I spoke on how ‘the biggest opportunity in gaming isn’t just creating better games. It’s building the people, communities and businesses around those games.
Because clarity without opportunity leaves you frustrated.
Opportunity without self-knowledge can take you in the wrong direction.
And knowing yourself without action changes very little.
Find yourself. Find your direction. Find the opportunity. Then build.
The 3 things you need to find
1. Who you are
Your values, strengths, interests, temperament, principles, and the kind of person you want to become.
2. What you want to do
The problems you want to solve, the work you find meaningful & the kind of life you want your work to create
3. Where the opportunities are
The people, markets, industries, communities, platforms and problems where your abilities can create value.
Then the real work is connecting the three:
Know yourself.
Know what you want to build.
Know where the opportunities are.
It is to use what you earn to gradually acquire productive assets, so that your money, ideas, relationships, skills and systems can begin working alongside you.
Earn. Build. Own. Compound.
That, to me, is a more intentional way to think about wealth.
The more I think about wealth, the more I realise that earning and owning are two very different games.
We spend years learning how to become more employable, earn more, get better positions and increase our income. All of that matters.
Ownership can look like equity in a business, investments, intellectual property, real estate, or building something that continues to create value beyond the hours you put into it.
The goal isn’t to stop working or stop earning.
This is why the same skill may be undervalued in one context and highly rewarded in another. The market does not only reward competence; it rewards relevance and measurable impact.
In practical terms, people and organizations tend to evaluate a skill based on:
the revenue or opportunities it can generate, or
the losses, risks, time, or costs it can prevent.
That mindset helps you harness the creative power of pressure while reducing its destructive effects.
Because sometimes, pressure is simply the weight of potential asking you to rise.
“Pressure is a privilege; it only comes to those that earn it.” - Billie Jean King
The goal is not to eliminate pressure entirely, but to learn how to carry it intelligently.
When you begin to see pressure as privilege, something shifts:stress stops feeling only like a burden and starts becoming proof of growth, responsibility, capacity, and possibility.
