@GreatCheshire a while back I watched one video where part of the runtime was "enh this wasn't good but the vitriolic superhate for it was really overblown and had an agenda" and Guess What the algorithm tried to feed me for months.
gonna end up Do Not Recommending a lot, again.
@bestgirlyazy@G0ffThew@bokksu I'm glad to see "this gambling anime sucks bc it's not my fave gambling anime" is on the list! I hate that kind of format. As someone who'd not previously heard of either, that video convinced me I don't want to touch nose gambling anime with a ten foot pole.
@vetiverfox I just looked back through some of your old stuff and sighed audibly. Coelacanths! Pigeons! Deep sea creatures! That's so cool. Do you plan on bringing any of them back to your store someday?
@UrsulaV I was rooting for them (plural) anyway! Ah, well. I suppose it does fit in with the themes of disregarding womens' callings and Easton's general xenophobia.
@UrsulaV nooooooo the poor tarn fungus!
I think reading Adrian Tchaikovsky's Children of Ruin has primed me to think of deeply inhuman, destructive-in-ignorance intelligent beings as Potential Friends. You should read that one sometime if you get the chance!
@UrsulaV I was so happy to see that nettle&bone is a book where torture doesn't work! even just as a paragraph. I get so, so sick of media that at best goes "it's wrong and bad and good people don't BUT it's also a perfect compliance/truth button". (it's not)
I quite admire Canada geese, actually. They are supremely successful wild animals that have adapted to our landscape and make mammals 20x their weight nervous.
@brendalyonsart@UrsulaV for some plants the space between 'living' and 'dead' is more a set of steps than a line. Root systems can live when the trunk has died and grow anew, and that means a way to hang on, the way Pando hangs on in a different world, thousands of years since its last flowering.
@brendalyonsart@UrsulaV I was reading the xkcd book, "What If?" a few weeks back and it included mention of chestnut stumps, still intermittently sending up shoots that sprout leaves then get the blight and wither, and that the last of those will soon fully die. That.... hurt.
@beleoci Cool! rn I'm into an old mage-smith lady who possessed one of her swords after she died! she is a character from the valdemar books with no canon art (there is canon sword art that doesn't match the written description tho)
@InscrutableJane I was desperately uncomfortable as a little girl with all the expectations of what I should look like - the thought that if I was a boy with my same face *I would look good* was pivotal - but I'm not and don't want to *be* a boy.
@InscrutableJane Years ago a small child asked me if I was a girl or a boy and my tip of the tongue automatic answer was "I'm a girl who looks like a boy", which... is where I want to be, really. I don't consider myself not feminine bc I don't believe in a strict trait binary.
@shriekcast they coulda incorporated By The Way This Disease Turns Women Into Animals by giving the Malfoys a pet something named Stella that they refuse to really talk about.
then you'd get people saying this "subtly implies" it's actually astoria.
