Annual Portfolio update + review + random thoughts (feel free to mute me)
-Definitely an interesting year. Portfolio did an "okay" multiple (shit by CT standards) but i'll take that any day considering I hardly put in more than 2 hours a day. I guess the big takeaway is that you just need a few big plays each year. For me it was plasma.
-Biggest miss this year was not trying new things (in Jez's words). Mix of lazyiness + cocky attitude me thinks? In hindsight should have max farmed lighter and the other 100 perp dexes but it is what it is.
-What to avoid next year? For me, its sports gambling. Down a decent 6 figs on this. Mix of boredom + the illusion of "farming airdrops" really got me. Will be staying away from this. You are better off just gambling on perp trading rather lmao. atleast u get points for losing.
- Plan going forward - Been mostly in cash (95%)+ a few leverage longs (gold, tesla) the past month. Been getting pathetic 5% on chain yield, while taking max risk.
-Finally did a tiny bit of depolyment today and added to long term btc and hype positions. Not calling a bottom here ofc but doesn't look like the worst place to deploy. Also bought some $amzn and $tsla stoc (zoom out and don't look at the 2 second chart)
-Plan is to spend more time over the next year looking at both US stonks and get some emerging market exposure as well. I've spent most of my professional career as an equity analyst ; there is something about reading annual reports and valuing companies that I miss. Excited to get back to this.
-On a side note, will be locked in during the lighter tge as i expect there is some money to be made there (unsure on the long or short side yet).
Merry Christmas and Wish you a prosperous New Year. God bless.
There are very few people in web3 who do what they do without scamming or rugging and this mf is one of them.
Has my total respect and one of the best farmers there is.
He did share this with me much earlier but I called it a scam (unfollow me am retard)
Final tally now that the world cup is over:
40 free tickets
13 games attended
$125,000 in tickets given away to friends, family, and twitter anons
$75,000 in tickets sold
$50,000 in tickets used myself
$20,000 in profit trading on the app
Fun month
If I had $1M sitting on Polymarket right now, here’s how I’d play the rest of this World Cup:
England are 1-0 up into 73rd minute and Argentina now have to chase the game..
But I wouldn’t make the obvious mistake of throwing the entire million on England after the market has already repriced the goal.
Here’s my allocation:
$250K on England to win the World Cup at 32.1¢
England are close to reaching the final and this pays roughly $779K if they finally win it.
$250K on Spain to win the World Cup at 58.2¢
This is my main hedge.
If England protect this lead, the final will be England vs Spain, so I’d own both sides rather than trying to predict the final tonight.
$150K on Messi to win the Golden Boot at 48.7¢
Messi is currently tied with Mbappé at the top.
He doesn’t necessarily need Argentina to win the World Cup for this to cash, so this gives me exposure that isn’t completely dependent on tonight’s result.
$50K on Bellingham to win the Golden Ball at 39.2¢
If England reach the final, Bellingham will remain one of the leading candidates for the tournament’s best player.
I’d keep this smaller because the market is thinner and a large order would move the price.
$10K on Pickford to win the Golden Glove at 20.9¢
A clean sheet tonight followed by a strong performance in the final would put him directly in the conversation.
Again, only a small position because there isn’t enough liquidity to realistically throw six figures at the displayed rate.
And I’d keep the remaining $290K untouched.
I wouldn’t chase random live scorer markets after the goal.
I’d wait for Argentina to equalise or create a period of heavy pressure.
If England’s price crashes during that panic, that’s when I’d deploy the remaining capital through limit orders.
So basically:
England is the upside.
Spain is the hedge.
Messi is the independent tournament bet.
Bellingham and Pickford are the high-risk England multipliers.
And almost 30% stays liquid because the best opportunity usually comes after everyone else panics.
That’s how I’d play $1M here without gambling the entire portfolio on one result.
