Total vindication.
The first Lab hold in a by election whilst in office in 18 years, a massive increase in the Labour vote from last months locals & clear evidence @AndyBurnhamGM can unite the progressive vote in a way nobody else can,
A huge thanks to the people of the Makerfield constituency for your patience and good humour over the last five weeks. My thanks too to the many volunteers who came up to support my campaign. We ran a very positive one and can be proud of it! 🙏🏻

The work is part of an ongoing commitment to support community groups across our City Region.

Many of the people who keep our government running- cleaners, caterers, security staff, are outsourced workers. This has meant they can be overlooked and treated differently.
This is not fair and we are ending it.
🏪 I welcome Government action on rogue shops.
Now we must go further: tougher checks before opening, stronger action against repeat offenders & tighter enforcement against illegal tobacco & vape sales.
🛍️ Reclaiming our high streets is the 1st step towards regenerating them.
Extremists, algorithms & hostile states try to divide us, to turn us against each other. But we have don’t have to follow them. We can choose to talk to each other& focus on what we have in common
That’s what Jo would have done & it was a privilege to start this with @katieamess
Working people like Suzanne should never have to worry about going to jail because they missed one monthly council tax payment.
@MartinSLewis and @mmhpi raised the damage inflicted from council debt collection with me – and we acted to change the rules, so you have more time to pay.
I was deeply saddened to hear about the incident at a nursery in Whitby, Ellesmere Port, this morning
My thoughts are with the young child who was seriously injured, their family, the other children and everyone affected.

33 days until Summer Recess.
145 days have passed since the Report Stage Debate was "postponed'.
38 days since we last spoke with the Prime minister and Attorney General............there was no movement then and there is no movement now,
no progress, no update on the Public office accountability bill.
The Victims of our @NowHillsborough group deserve better and more respect than this!
We are not going away!

As the proud Chair of the MND All-Party Parliamentary Group, I am in awe of Kevin’s achievements and the extraordinary fundraising efforts he has undertaken in memory of his great friend.
The difference he has made in raising awareness of Motor Neurone Disease cannot be overstated. Through his dedication, determination and compassion, he has shone a light on this devastating illness and inspired countless others to support the fight against it.
The funds he has raised will make a real contribution to the vital research needed to one day beat this horrific disease and bring hope to those living with MND and their families.
Kevin’s efforts are a powerful reminder of what can be achieved through friendship, community and an unwavering commitment to making a difference.
Well done, Kevin.
