We promote political dialogue, civic education, democratic governance and participation, professional and free media, and sustainable economic policies.
Eleven years in, some of the most important progress and the most persistent gaps happen in communities that rarely make the news.
That's the gap our MCI SDGs Media Van (#MCIMediaVan) was built to close in partnership with @KasUganda .
Media is becoming a powerful driver of tourism and the 5th edition of the Rwenzori Marathon proved exactly that. 🏃🏾♂️⛰️
With World Athletics streaming the marathon live and commentators bringing the experience to audiences beyond Uganda, the event reached thousands of people.
This visibility created opportunities for local businesses, tourism sites and the region’s wider economic growth.
Identity Talks explored this important connection between media and tourism in a detailed conversation, powered by Konrad Adenauer Stiftung @KasUganda collaboration with @IMChallengeug

Bernard Mukhone commended Kiwanuka’s courage as Chief Justice. He noted that at a time when silence was the safer path, Kiwanuka defended the independence of the judiciary. #KAS4Democracy https://t.co/P9FE1uYk1P
KAS Uganda, in partnership with Kampala Archdiocese, organized the Benedicto Kiwanuka Memorial Lecture at Pope Paul Hotel, reflecting on the legacy of Uganda's first black chief justice. #KAS4Democracy
In his address, Archbishop Emeritus Odama highlighted Kiwanuka’s inclusive vision of Uganda: “His thinking was thinking of humanity in Uganda and across religion, across ethnic groups, across political groups.” Bp Odama said. #KAS4Democracy https://t.co/9UJX848kPM
"The Role of Media in the Age of AI" workshop by @sammhindo put our #MediaFellowshipUg fellows face to face with the line between objectivity & the everyday choices for journalists such as headlines, sourcing & word choice that shape what the public believes.
Imagine what more @RwenzoriMarathn can contribute to the community of Kasese.
Delighted to have travelled with @Switch_AFR to Kasese; Both media and Tourism Shape the Identity of Ugandans. https://t.co/VFQ2aqgBYG

Tourism thrives on trusted information, but misinformation and disinformation can quickly damage a destination’s image and economy.
A day before the Rwenzori Marathon, Identity Talks, in partnership with @KasUganda , took the conversation to the people of Kasese exploring the media’s role in promoting tourism and telling authentic stories about the region.

Just so you know, “Rwenzururu” literally means “the home of the snows.” So the @RwenzoriMarathn is not just a marathon, it’s a chance to explore the beauty of the home of the snows and experience the hospitality of its people, the Banyarwenzururu. Glad that @KasUganda continues to have #IdentityTalks alongside the marathon.

The competition for attention, trust&influence in the African media is growing fiercely. The new Africa strategy by the @EPP acknowledges this. Our @KasMedia argues that 🇪🇺must become better at explaining what we do and supporting free media👇@mnedbrussels
We proudly celebrated a milestone today, by awarding the pioneer cohort of 52 participants in the Certificate in Critical Thinking and Social Intelligence—a three-week short course by the Department of Philosophy @MakerereCHUSS. Over 350 applications were received, underscoring the public’s hunger for practical skills in reasoning, judgment, and social awareness amid information overload.
Course coordinator @SpireJim noted that the programme was born out of a conviction that philosophy can impact society beyond the classroom, combining critical thinking with social intelligence so participants “leave not only able to reason more rigorously but also better equipped to read social situations and engage constructively with people who hold different views.”
Chief Guest, DVCAA Prof. @SsaliSarah congratulated the graduates: “This is exactly the kind of impact we want Makerere University to have on society.” She urged them to apply their new skills in homes, workplaces, and communities.

It was a very fulfilling day today as our first cohort of the short course in Critical Thinking and Social Intelligence graduated today. It was a dream come true moment. The amazing diverse group consisting of medics, teachers, vets, journalists, politicians, accountants, pharmacists, architects, civil society actors, PRs, students etc promised to live and spread what they’ve learnt for a more rational, reasonable and humane society. The surprise were their financial pledges towards future trainings, for the continuity of the cause. Thanks @KasUganda for the support that enabled the Department of Philosophy to get this rolling. No turning back. Congratulations to all the awardees! Go and light more candles of reason
