Responding to the sophistry that “capitalism kills people too”:

People die. Without exception. Every child born is going to die. Regardless of the economic or political system, the mortality rate is eventually 100%.

We don't know when or how any healthy person is going to die. With some, the cause of death is known. With some, like the old and the ill, death does not come as a complete surprise. The poor have a higher chance of dying at every age. Droughts, storms, earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, avalanches, and gravity kill people randomly: in law, these are called “acts of God” and nobody is blamed or prosecuted. With massive fires, some human may be at fault, but the intent ranges from arson to accident to stupidity.

As Neville Longbottom said in the last Harry Potter, “People die every day.”

Have people died in countries with free markets? Yes.

Have free-market countries systematically killed large numbers of people? Rarely, and even more rarely for economic reasons. 🧵⬇️

NEW: Spain is now deploying its military after thousands of military-aged men stormed over the border into Ceuta, Spain.

Ceuta authorities are calling on Madrid to declare a national emergency after the border "totally collapsed."

"The situation is absolute chaos. It’s not possible to give precise numbers, but there are thousands of migrants crossing," said head of the association that represents Spain’s Civil Guard officers in Ceuta, Rachid Sbihi, to AP.

The Trump White House is now ripping Europe for its far-left policies.

"President Trump has long warned Europe what would happen if they continue to implement far-left, globalist policies, including enabling mass migration," said WH principal deputy press secretary Anna Kelly to Fox.

"Spain and other countries who have adopted this destructive philosophy should immediately reverse course or risk their own demise."

Everyone needs to be buying physical books and building a home library. Ours contains literature for all ages, beginning with nursery rhymes. It has sections on science, philosophy, religion, history, geography, cultures, languages, music, art, crafting, and even mathematics.

Almost all of these books are purchased used, dog-eared and annotated ad nauseam. Library sales, thrift sales, church sales, yard sales. Local fill-a-bag-for-five-bucks sales. And yes, online retail sales, too.

Why do we do this when we could just go digital? Physical books are less expensive when bought used. Physical books cannot be changed, manipulated, or deleted. Physical books are refreshingly analog in an excessively digital world. And yes, digital texts are convenient. We have those, too. But our house prioritizes purchasing, reading, and rescuing physical books.

Because we're building a legacy. Surrounding ourselves with brilliance and beauty. It is a gift for our children and their children... and for us, of course.
