News — Rep. Ashley Hinson’s husband ‘arranged’ a meeting between lobbyists and Iowa lawmakers — including his wife, according to documents reviewed by @washingtonsun

Hinson's husband, Matt Arenholz, held a government affairs post at a leading insurance industry lobbying group, a position that has been previously unreported.

The CEO of Independent Insurance Agents of Iowa said in a 2023 company magazine that "Matt was able to arrange a meeting with all four of our congressional members in one large conference room." In the same article, the CEO said he was "given several strange looks" when he told peers the group was able to meet with all six Iowa lawmakers during a trip to DC.

A PAC connected to the insurance group has contributed a total of more than $67,000 to Hinson’s campaign and PACs affiliated with the Iowa Republican.
