Much of the team are renegades from Tenstorrent where the CEO of Taalas, Ljubisa Bajic, was CEO until Jim Keller took over. he big architectural difference is ecosystem philosophy. Nvidia’s NVL72 is a vertically integrated platform: Blackwell GPUs, Grace CPUs, NVLink fabric, and a validated rack design all come together as one system. Helios is AMD’s attempt to offer similar rack-scale density, but with a more open stack that leans on AMD CPUs, AMD GPUs, and open interconnect standards.[supermicro +4]
For buyers, NVL72 is the safer near-term choice if you want the broadest software maturity, a highly tuned reference architecture, and the clearest deployment path. Helios is interesting if you care about vendor diversification, openness, and likely competitive pricing pressure against Nvidia.
