Working as an AI Supervisor on the Riccardo Cocciante documentary for @RaiUno - Radiotelevisione Italiana gave me the chance to take part in something special.
Together with @KatyaVettorello , we reconstructed a theater that no longer exists today, bringing back to life a concert that featured three iconic Italian singer-songwriters, an event for which no video footage survives.
Using generative AI techniques, we recreated the atmosphere of that performance, transforming fragments of history into a visual experience that allows the audience to imagine a moment that would otherwise remain lost.
Projects like this show how AI can support storytelling and cultural memory, not by replacing history, but by helping us visualize it again.
The documentary is now available on @RaiPlay .
“My Name Is Riccardo Cocciante” is the first documentary dedicated to the legendary Italian singer. I had the privilege of contributing as AI Artist recreating scenes from his childhood.
Thanks to @shikoba_86 for involving me.
A Daimon Film production, tonight on Rai1.
Tonight a very special project goes on air on Rai 1.
“Il mio nome è Riccardo Cocciante” — the first docufilm dedicated to the life and career of one of the most iconic voices of Italian music.
From his childhood between cultures to the songs that shaped generations, the film explores the journey of an artist who has left a deep mark on music and storytelling.
Directed by Stefano Salvati and produced by @DaimonFilm , led by Raffaella Tommasi, in collaboration with Rai Documentari.
Some moments of Cocciante’s early life had no archival footage.
To bring those memories to the screen, we recreated parts of his past using generative AI.
I had the privilege of working on these sequences as AI Supervisor, helping integrate AI-generated imagery into a cinematic narrative.
Special thanks to Katya Vettorello ( @KatyaVettorello ) , who contributed to recreating the environments of Cocciante’s childhood.
Cinema keeps evolving.
And tonight, a small piece of that future goes on air.
