We are unpaid volunteers in our local community. We are able to reach patients before an ambulance arrives, vital for time critical emergencies. CIO 1179199
What is a CFR?
A Community First Responder (CFR) is a volunteer trained by the ambulance service to respond to life-threatening emergencies. Based in their local communities, CFRs often arrive first before any other assets.

Last Sunday Chris completed the Stafford Half Marathon while carrying a response bag.
This was a great effort to raise funds to allow us to keep responding in our community.
Keele CFR had a great time supporting @KeeleUniversity mental health day.
Ben and I had a great time engaging with students, promoting the charity, and doing some quick CPR lessons.

🚑 MYTH OR FACT? “You can go through a red light if an ambulance is behind you.” 🚦
❌ MYTH.
Only emergency vehicles responding to incidents are legally allowed to pass through red lights and even then, only under strict conditions. If you cross a red light, you could receive a fine and points on your licence.
Instead, stay put and let our crews assess the safest way around you, they're trained to pass safely! 🚑😊

Do you know how to do CPR?
If the person is unresponsive and not breathing, follow these steps.
1. Call 999 for help
2. Push down on the centre of the chest at a rate of 2 a second
3. Request for and apply a defibrillator

Norovirus is going around right now.
The virus can spread very easily. Washing your hands frequently with soap and water is the best way to stop it spreading.
If you catch norovirus, stay at home and rest.

It's flippin' #pancakeday! If your cooking skills are a bit crepe-y & you suffer a minor burn, don’t flip out! Here's how to feel batter:
🔥 Move away from heat source
💍 Remove clothing or jewellery near burn & don't move anything stuck to skin
❄️ Cool burn with cool/lukewarm running water for 20-30 mins. NO ice or creams.
🩹 After cooling, cover it with layer of cling film or clean, plastic bag.
💊 Take paracetamol or ibuprofen to treat pain.
☝️Raise affected area to help reduce swelling.

Throw back to last month when we had a week of snow ❄️
Our amazing volunteers still gave their time to help patients in our community, despite challenging road conditions.
Think chain of survival when giving someone the best chance of surviving cardiac arrest.
💚 Early recognition and call for help
💚 Early CPR
💚 Early defibrillation
