Dear Crimewatch Team, I hope I find you well. I would like to begin by acknowledging and appreciating the work you are doing in our communities. Your efforts to bring attention to issues affecting ordinary citizens are truly commendable.

Let me get straight to the point. I am a resident of Tynwald South, Sisk, located next to the new stands in Fountain Blue.

Some time ago, there was a disagreement between our community and the developers/residents of the Fountain Blue new stands regarding the installation of sewage tanks within our community. Despite the concerns raised by residents, the sewage tanks were eventually installed in Tynwald South. Our understanding is that these installations were not approved by the City Council, nor was the community properly consulted.

We were also informed at the time that the individuals involved had political connections, including alleged links to ZANU PF, which raised further concerns among residents about how the matter was handled.

Unfortunately, the situation has now become a serious health and environmental concern. The sewage tanks have reportedly burst and have been overflowing for almost a month, with no effective action having been taken to resolve the problem.

We have tried engaging the City Council through the Dzivarasekwa offices, but we were informed that the Council does not repair sewage tanks that are not approved by the City Council. This has left our community in a very difficult situation.

Our greatest concern is that residents in the area have drilled boreholes, and we are now worried that continued sewage leakage could contaminate underground water sources. This could potentially expose residents to serious public-health risks if the situation is allowed to continue.

We have also tried to engage our councillor, Councillor Shoko, who, to the best of my understanding, is also involved in the City Council's financial portfolio. However, despite our concerns, the problem remains unresolved. We are not sure whether efforts have been made behind the scenes or whether there are difficulties in getting the relevant authorities to take action.

We are therefore appealing to Crimewatch to help bring this matter to the attention of the relevant authorities, particularly the City of Harare, and to call for an urgent inspection and appropriate intervention.

This is no longer simply a disagreement between neighbouring communities. It is now a potential public-health and environmental issue affecting residents and their water sources. We believe the matter requires urgent attention before it becomes an even bigger health crisis.

We kindly request your assistance in raising this issue with the responsible authorities and helping us get a lasting solution.
