@kahome_steve Investment laws dictate that when people rush to buy, stand back. When they are averse, do the opposite.
It's time to get into SACCOs as everyone runs into MMFs.
I joined a Sacco, first thing when I started my saving journey 5yrs ago.
I reinvested and sometimes ate the dividends when they came.
Now, I use the dividends to buy NSE shares.
I am planning to withdraw and exit and close that account in the near future. I am just gathering momentum now.
@kahome_steve Sacco as investment is a giant scam.
Well they are actually Savings and credit cooperative.
It's in the name already, sacco are for Saving and taking loans, any sacco that sells you an investment dream is actually a scam to be honest.
Saving and loans only.
@kahome_steve Hehehe....
My son is 19. When he turned 18, I introduced him to my Sacco where I have been a member for 16 years. I told him the best place to start is to LEARN THE PAIN & DISCIPLINE OF SAVING.... How can someone invest money he does not have, SAVE FIRST!
@kahome_steve I dont think SACCOs model is appealing anymore. I cant save my money with you and then take a loan form and go begging for other members to sign for me to get loans. its like a walk of shame for you to get that money.
Gen Zs want very little to do with SACCOs.
They prefer stocks, ETFs, crypto, forex etc
Are SACCOs no longer appealing to the young folks or are they just chasing the next "hot" investment?

Steps To Buy Your First Local Kenyan Stocks
1.Get your documents ready: National ID or Passport + KRA PIN.
2.Choose a CMA-licensed stockbroker or investment bank and open a CDS account.
3. Fund your trading account via bank or mobile money.
4. Buy shares of companies listed on the NSE through your broker.
5.After T+3 settlement, the shares are credited to your CDS account.
It’s simpler than most people think. Start early and stay ahead.
Avoid these money mistakes:
1. Never save your emergency fund in a SACCO
2. Never use your Money market fund for long term investing.
3. Never save money using your banks’ saving or fixed deposit account
4. Never use your Chama as your only savings or investment plan
5. Never borrow money to invest in stocks.
