Highway Star - Deep Purple

This song was literally written on a tour bus when a reporter asked the band how they did their songwriting. Ritchie Blackmore grabbed a guitar and started riffing in the key of G, while Ian Gillan started improvising lyrics. The band played the song at their gig that night!

I'm having a blast with these Deep Purple rock anthems. I have long enjoyed learning from these guys, the original members of one of the first rock SuperGroups. Ian Gillan is one of many legendary vocalists who toured and recorded with Deep Purple. You have to have your chops in good shape to take on this type of Rockstar vocal styles.

I'm having such a great time enjoying the music of one of my all-time favorite bands, DEEP PURPLE. They were such an important part of the development of ROCK MUSIC.

So many great vocalists and musicians were a part of that Rock History! Ritchie Blackmore put in a reunion appearance at a recent concert. The crowd went wild!

I hope you will enjoy this cover of BURN as much as I enjoyed firing it up!

Smoke On the Water - Deep Purple

I guess Hell has Frozen Over, because Ritchie Blackmore recently came on stage with Deep Purple after 33 years! That's something worth celebrating!

Ritchie Blackmore gave Ian Gillan a call recently and asked if it would be alright for him to come jam with his old bandmates.

The audience that witnessed that reunion at the Jones Beach Theater in New York was truly elated to be aboard for that momentous occasion. First time together in 33 years! And what song, you may ask, did Ritchie play? You got it! SMOKE ON THE WATER!

I have been a long-time Deep Purple fan, and this is something I just love to celebrate! With that in mind, here is my cover of SMOKE ON THE WATER!

Back when I was in the international recording group "Joshua", working very hard on trying to get a record deal, graciously, Don Dokken was very instrumental in the signing of the band.

In fact, he called Dieter Dierks, the then original producer of the Scorpions, and asked "Can you make an introduction for the band "Joshua"?", which led to a worldwide international recording contract.

All of us in Joshua will be forever indebted to Don Dokken for this gracious act.
