A lot of coverage on how the SBC is moving right, and how momentum for institutional renewal is surging.
This article from Kiera Butler at Mother Jones is one of the better ones and has lots of good quotes.
I’d quibble with the framing (e.g., I don’t see the rightward shift as being Christian Nationalism per se, but rather about rising leaders wanting more accountability, transparency and faithfulness from SBC institutions).
But the article is fundamentally correct to recognize Orlando 2026 as a direction change driven by the wide coalition of actors involved with @BaptistLeaders, and key voices like @WilliamWolfe, @megbasham, @jrwhitehead, @jonharris1989, @rhett_burns, @dmichaelclary and many others.

As an answer to the classic “What would Jesus do?” question, “start robot wars” would be an unconventional response, to put it mildly. And yet, here we are. https://t.co/MZ9n7Jo5vW
I wrote about how the decades-old bond between Catholics and evangelicals is fraying (and the surprising new alliance could be replacing it) https://t.co/AlpsaArUoL
@SohrabAhmari@SohrabAhmari Wanted to reach out again—I'm a journalist with Mother Jones working on a story about fractures in the decades-long alliance between US Catholics and evangelicals, especially around the war in Iran. Would love to talk, if you have a few minutes this week.
@ChristopherHale@ChristopherHale I'm a journalist with Mother Jones writing about the decades-long alliance between US Catholics and evangelicals, especially around the war in Iran. I've read about your work on religion and US foreign policy, and I'm wondering if you might have time to talk?
@SohrabAhmari@SohrabAhmari I'm a journalist w Mother Jones writing about fractures in the alliance between US Catholics and evangelicals, esp around Iran. Would love to talk to you—what's best way to get in touch? (I also know your wife from 1,000,000 years ago, ask her about The Pancakes!)
@ChristopherHale Hi @ChristopherHale , I'm a journalist with Mother Jones, and I'm interested in writing about the MAGA fracture over Israel, especially as it concerns Catholics. Any chance you might be up for talking?
If you've ever wondered what kinds of nuclear companies the Trump administration has in mind to power all the AI data centers, I just wrote about one: https://t.co/dTRF8eCHdT
New from me: Last month I asked HHS about South Carolina's measles outbreak. They brushed me off, saying they weren't "concerned that this will develop into a large, long-running outbreak."
It's now the biggest since measles was declared eliminated.

I wrote about the influencers convincing women to love ICE. Pay particular attention to the lady who says she avoids getting shot by ICE by making "nutrient dense and healthy meals" and "hanging out with my husband" https://t.co/MxcrJyjOJI
“This has a great potential to cause harm, and I simply hope that the committee will accept its responsibility when this harm is caused,” ACIP member Joseph Hibbeln said after voting against changing the guidance. By @Katie_Jea https://t.co/tvTo64AqQJ

New from me: I talked to CDC staffers about the vaccines & autism page. They said things like:
“The best way I can put it is it feels like we’re on a hijacked airplane.”
“I think people are starting to see that we can’t fulfill our mission here.”
