Happiness is a tightrope. Some walk it successfully. Some fail. And some kill to preserve it… This taut British thriller tells the story of Ellen (Patricia Owens), a young American happily married to Jason, a rich English businessman (Terence Cooper). One day Ellen frantically informs her husband that she is being followed. Bewildered by this strange occurrence, he tries to find out why. But his chances of finding out the reason quickly vanish when the stranger (Dan Duryea) shows up at his door and shoots him, killing him instantly. From this point the tension and excitement ramp up to a surprise climax that will keep you guessing until the final minutes. As the woman haunted by her past, Owens (The Fly) gives a gripping star performance, as does Duryea (Scarlet Street), who adds another sniveling villain to his impressive cinematic rogues’ gallery.
