I have been moving, and I found my old Far Side books underneath the bed. If you are my age or thereabouts, nearly 25% are instantly memorable, nay legendary. It's the greatest single-panel strip of all time. But I think this might be the best of all, and if I'm wrong prove it.

🧵 I keep seeing #amquerying writers anguish over having a... not-big number of rejections. Over getting no feedback. Over having queried a whole week with no full requests. I'm seeing people respond to these poor writers with "self-pub!" and "that's the market right now!"

as a librarian and former child, I do think, generally, everyone needs to be less concerned with what kids are reading and more concerned with being someone who children in your life can talk to if they stumble upon something that scares or confuses them.

Interesting read- other points to note from my own experience... how many women (in this case 40+) get the 'Story By' credit and then the actual script is handed over to a dude who gets 'screenplay by'. Cuz that part sucks.

Last night I had a dream where I exclaimed, "I just got into Learning University! LEARNING UNIVERSITY. My eyes popped open, ashamed my subconscious basically came up with, "I'm going to Schooly School!" I went right back to sleep to try to come up with a name worthy of a writer.
