Sad to read in @thetimes that Bridget Phillipson is blaming me for delay to EHRC Code. She certainly stoops low. She had Code for 3 months when she sent me this letter last November - no indication of any grandstanding then.
@DavidWootton69@ThePosieParker My record: 2021=Forstater EAT
2022=opposing Scottish GRR bill + SSex guidance
2023=advice to UK re Biological Sex
2024=fighting trans attack at UN (3rd time) + intervention at SCt for FWS.
2025=Delivery of SCt ruling with Code while fighting > 3 Judicial Reviews - successfuly!
@berk_hamstead@MForstater@RachelSJohnson I actually said I quoted someone on BBC and they weren’t my words. The context was how charged and trivial the debate was becoming. Nevertheless, C4 ignored my explanation.
The Court held that the Interim Update contained an “accurate statement of the law without misstatement or material omission” and complied within the EHRC’s statutory duties, and that the legislation on which it was based, properly interpreted, was compatible with human rights.
I am tweeting for the first time since 2022 because today’s judgment was a personal vindication. I’m absolutely delighted, and grateful to the wonderful team who helped us to get this right.
It would be bad manners to comment on decisions of my estimable successors at the @EHRC David Isaac and Kishwer Falkner, both appointed in much the same way as I was.But I served a three full terms at CRE/EHRC under both Labour administrations and Tory/Lib Dem coalition…..1/5
Just to clarify that I meant to say that we don’t have a right not to be offended. Conflicting views are part of healthy discourse! Thanks @stephenpollard for pointing this out.
EHRC chair Baroness Falkner just said on @BBCr4today , responding to Forstater ruling, "we all have a right not to be offended".
This is wrong on every level. There is neither a legal nor a 'moral' right not to be offended, and it is essential we never go down this path
Thanks to @oliver_wright for the opportunity to talk about our great work at @EHRC, where we’re standing up for everyone’s rights.

I voted today on a Trade Bill amendment to ensure that parliament, not a committee of retired judges should decide if a trading partner is committing genocide - it’s the responsibility of us parliamentarians and shouldn’t be outsourced, my speech is here: https://t.co/kowQmnWMSx
Remembering my trip to #Auschwitz in 1999, I felt it important to go before that century closed. Our duty now is to ensure the next generation understands and remembers.
In a letter in the @guardian our Chair, @KishwerFalkner, highlights how we take our independence "incredibly seriously" in response to recent criticism.

"I think diversity of thinking is critical to solving problems together. We don’t solve problems together if we groupthink."

A sweet victory indeed but Jon Ossoff is more than a great democrat- his victory should be an inspiration to all young people that politics can be a noble cause.
Pleased to announce @KishwerFalkner as my preferred candidate for the role of @EHRC Chair.
She brings significant commitment to equality and opportunity. I look forward to working with her at this pivotal time.👇

One of Germany’s most serious foreign affairs politicians. His views are really important and merit follow through by his Government... not sure that’s going to happen.
Yesterday UK decided to remove #Huawei from its networks by 2027. Today Chinese state media call for "public & painful" retaliation against the #UK. The irony: European companies haven't been allowed to roll out #5G in #China either. #EU should be clear in standing by 🇬🇧 on this.
Libertarians! If you object to being forced to wear a mask on health grounds; then wear one because it will slow the government’s adoption of facial recognition technology.
