On July 18, 1983, Patrolman Thomas Alan "Bart" Bartholomew made the ultimate sacrifice while serving the Kissimmee community.

Forty-three years later, we continue to honor his life, remember his service, and reflect on the legacy he left behind. His legacy lives on within the Kissimmee Police Department and continues to inspire those who serve our community.

ARREST WARRANT OBTAINED | Heather Way Homicide Investigation

The Kissimmee Police Department has obtained an arrest warrant for Nicolas Alexander Lopez (DOB: 10/17/1993), charging him with Second-Degree Murder in connection with the homicide of Charles Harper (DOB: 01/23/1955).

On June 25, 2026, officers responded to the 1500 block of Heather Way after receiving a 911 call reporting that someone was injured. Officers located 71-year-old Charles Harper in the backyard with trauma to his face. Harper was pronounced deceased at the scene.

During the investigation, Lopez was identified as a person of interest. As detectives continued to follow the evidence, they developed additional information establishing probable cause that Lopez was responsible for Harper's death. Lopez was also charged with Grand Theft Auto in connection with the theft of Charles Harper's vehicle.

On July 14, 2026, detectives obtained an arrest warrant charging Lopez with Second-Degree Murder. Lopez has remained in custody at the Seminole County Jail since June 25 on unrelated charges.

Chief Charles Broadway stated, "Our officers and detectives remained committed to following the evidence wherever it led. This arrest warrant reflects the dedication, professionalism, and teamwork of everyone involved in this investigation. While today's arrest warrant marks an important milestone, our thoughts and prayers continue to be with Mr. Harper's family as they navigate this difficult time. I am proud of the professionalism, unwavering commitment, and integrity our officers and detectives demonstrate each and every day as they serve our community."

The Kissimmee Police Department is notifying residents regarding the presence of registered Sexual Predator Dihaan Mikal Seraaj (DOB: 02/18/1977), residing at:

Seraaj was adjudicated guilty in 2023 of violating Florida Statute 800.04(5)(b) – Lewd or Lascivious Molestation, Victim Under 12 Years of Age. The victim of this crime was a minor.

Brashear is designated as a Sexual Predator under Florida law. He was adjudicated guilty of offenses that included attempted Lewd and Lascivious Conduct involving a victim under the age of 16. The victim in this case was a minor.

Today, we celebrate the 251st Birthday of the United States Army. For more than two centuries, Soldiers have answered the call to serve, defend our nation, and protect the freedoms we hold dear.

We are grateful for the sacrifices of those who have served and continue to serve, and we are especially thankful for the members of our Kissimmee Police Department family who have worn the Army uniform.

Today, we remember the 49 lives lost in the Pulse tragedy on June 12, 2016.

We honor their memory, recognize the strength of the survivors, and keep their families, loved ones, and all those affected in our thoughts.

While 10 years have passed, this day remains one of reflection, remembrance, and unity. It reminds us of the importance of supporting one another, leading with compassion, and coming together during difficult times.

Two individuals were arrested following a Kissimmee Police Department animal cruelty investigation after officers responded to a report involving 24 dogs, including multiple puppies, found in unsafe conditions inside a vehicle.

Thanks to the swift actions of our officers and the partnership of Osceola County Animal Services, the dogs were safely removed and are now receiving care.

Animal cruelty is taken seriously. If you see suspicious activity or have concerns for the safety of a person or animal, please report it.

On May 16, 2020, Ricardo De Lara was found deceased after officers responded to reports of gunshots in the area of Fox Crossing Drive.
