This 90 seconds is a perfect summation of @freddieconnell’s central message. It is impressive not only for its content and delivery but also for its universality. 1/7
Nashville's Blog-Father has passed away. Rex Hammock was a pioneer in social media and will be missed by so many. Rest well, @rexhammock

Credit card interest rates are out of control. Rates have DOUBLED in recent years. In 2022 alone, credit cards charged Americans $105 billion in interest. Today @BernieSanders and I are teaming up to introduce a 10% cap on interest rates - just like @realDonaldTrump proposed
The big reveal: The @Tennessean ‘s Person of 2024 is ….

There are many reasons why, among them a drama-free administration after so many years of tumult and a successful transit referendum.
Read the editors’ reasons, find out more about the mayor and check out an exclusive Q&A I did with him in text and video.
This is the moment for a Left/Right coalition to emerge and commit to labor. The Left should abandon its hatred of Trump and the Right should abandon its love of Musk and both should unite around protecting American workers and restoring the American Dream for the working class.
On this day in 1970, President Nixon signed the Urban Mass Transportation Assistance Act, authorizing $10 billion over 12 years to develop & expand public transportation systems nationwide. This began a long-term federal commitment to public transit that continues to this day.
Wow. Hard to believe it’s already been a year.
We’ve gotten a lot done. There’s an important choice to make together in just a few weeks, but thank you for the opportunity to work on a Nashville for Nashvillians.
Take a look at our shared efforts.

People have told to me that it doesn't make sense for a local media outlet to do cultural/film criticism today—something I vehemently disagree with. This short essay by @j_rod_delrey is a good example of why I disagree with them. A world class city needs to have cultural ferment and writers narrativizing its journey, lest it become too plastic to be anything other than an undifferentiated economic zone. Reflecting on art through the lens of Nashville teaches us something and informs our understanding of the place we call home. There is not enough of this kind of writing in the world today, and that is why, in part, when conversations come up over what a city really is, we can only conceive of it in political and/or economic terms.
My latest for @realpamphleteer details Mayor @freddieoconnell’s intro to Magnolia during the kickoff to @Belcourt’s 1999 series, or one of the most electric movie experiences I’ve had since I first saw Magnolia at a six-screen suburban theater in high school.
During today’s State of Metro address, I shared some resources that I hope make it easier to stay in a growing city where cost of living has increased.
We’re still expanding our affordability toolkit with housing and transportation programs.
