It is with a heavy heart that we want to let our community know of the passing of one of our cherished KOVALians, John Collett. Although John was not actively a member of our distilling team since he stepped away to found his own whiskey company and foundation, we still worked with him on his Three Rangers Whiskey, and considered him a member of the KOVAL family. John was extremely humble but his life was filled with the kind of bravery most people only encounter in movies; so much so, it is fitting that he actually served as a Technical Advisor and stuntman for the making of the movie Black Hawk Down. He was an Army Ranger and fought in the Battle of Mogadishu, and he was awarded the Silver Star and Purple Heart for his actions in Somalia. He later dedicated himself to the Three Rangers Foundation to assist veterans of the 75th Regiment with counseling, education, and transitioning out of the service. We are proud to have worked with him, known him, and witnessed how much he gave of himself to those he loved, which was everyone he met. May his memory be a blessing to all who knew him.

It’s National Whiskey Sour Day! 🥃 🍋
Whether you’re Team Egg White or not for your cocktail, head over to your local @marianosmarket for all the ingredients you need to shake it up the KOVAL way!

KOVAL Whiskey Sour:

-1 egg white
-.75 oz lemon juice
-.75 oz turbinado syrup
-2 oz KOVAL Bourbon
-.5 oz KOVAL Cranberry Gin Liqueur

Add the egg white, lemon juice, syrup and KOVAL Bourbon to a mixing glass. Shake without ice to allow the egg to emulsify, then add a generous scoop of ice and shake again. Strain into a rocks glass over a big cube, then hold a bar spoon in the drink, carefully float the cranberry gin down the spoon and enjoy!
