The 7.5-km Kalena Agrahara–Tavarekere stretch of Bengaluru’s Pink Line is ready for inauguration and will soon be open to the public. We are hopeful of receiving a date from the Government of India in September.

Along with MP Tejaswi Surya, MLA M. Krishnappa, Metro MD P.C. Jafar and officials, we undertook a trial run today and reviewed the progress ahead of its opening.

Sometimes, a journey takes an unexpected turn.

In this conversation, I share one such turning point in my own journey - unforeseen circumstances and the path they led me to.

I remain grateful for that turn, which brought me to the responsibility and privilege of serving Bengaluru.

ಕೆಲವೊಮ್ಮೆ ಜೀವನದ ಪಯಣ ನಾವು ನಿರೀಕ್ಷಿಸದ ತಿರುವು ಪಡೆದುಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತದೆ.

ನನ್ನ ಜೀವನದ ಪಯಣದಲ್ಲೂ ಅಂತಹದ್ದೇ ಒಂದು ಅನಿರೀಕ್ಷಿತ ತಿರುವು ಎದುರಾಯಿತು. ಅನಿರೀಕ್ಷಿತ ಪರಿಸ್ಥಿತಿಗಳು ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಹೊಸ ದಾರಿಯತ್ತ ಕರೆದೊಯ್ದವು. ಆ ದಾರಿ ಇಂದು ಬೆಂಗಳೂರಿನ ಸೇವೆ ಮಾಡುವ ಜವಾಬ್ದಾರಿ ಹಾಗೂ ಸೌಭಾಗ್ಯವನ್ನು ನನಗೆ ನೀಡಿದೆ.

ನನ್ನ ಪಯಣಕ್ಕೆ ಹೊಸ ದಿಕ್ಕು ನೀಡಿದ ಆ ಅನಿರೀಕ್ಷಿತ ತಿರುವಿಗೆ ನಾನು ಸದಾ ಕೃತಜ್ಞ. ಬೆಂಗಳೂರಿನ ಜನರಿಗಾಗಿ ಸೇವೆ ಸಲ್ಲಿಸುವ ಈ ಜವಾಬ್ದಾರಿ ನನಗೆ ದೊರೆತಿರುವುದು ಹೆಮ್ಮೆ ಹಾಗೂ ಸೌಭಾಗ್ಯ.

Today, I had the good fortune to interact with former Bengaluru Mayors to hear their perspectives on the city’s challenges, learn from their experience, and discuss what it will take to build a city that is better planned, better managed and ready for the future.

From complaints to action - delivery of #GoodGovernance starts with listening. We inspected garbage collection in Mallasandra at 5:30 am today and spoke directly with officials, residents and our pourakarmika workers about garbage collection bottlenecks.

As #JustCleanBengaluru carries on in full swing, BNCC Commissioner Sunil Kumar, officials and I started our Monday morning at 5:30 am, inspecting garbage collection in Mallasandra, Dasarahalli. We directly spoke with residents and pourakarmikas to understand what is working and what needs to change, because the real picture is always on the ground.

140 out of 222 street lights on one of Bengaluru’s most important roads were not functioning. This is not a lack of funds or projects - it is a failure of responsibility and accountability.

Basic services must work. Those entrusted with delivering them must be held accountable. Hence, strict action will be taken against the officials responsible for this lapse.

ಪ್ರತಿಭಾವಂತ ಯುವಜನತೆ ನಮ್ಮ ಬೆಂಗಳೂರಿನ ನಿಜವಾದ ಆಸ್ತಿ. ಅವರ ಪ್ರತಿಭೆ, ಪರಿಶ್ರಮ ಹಾಗೂ ಸಾಧನೆಗಳು ನಮ್ಮೆಲ್ಲರ ಹೆಮ್ಮೆ. ಒಬ್ಬ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿ ಸಾಧನೆಯ ಶಿಖರಕ್ಕೇರುವಾಗ, ಆ ಸಂತೋಷ ಕೇವಲ ಕುಟುಂಬಕ್ಕೆ ಸೀಮಿತವಾಗದೆ ಇಡೀ ಬೆಂಗಳೂರು ಸಂಭ್ರಮಿಸಬೇಕು.

ಈ ಹೆಮ್ಮೆಯ ಕ್ಷಣವನ್ನು ಮತ್ತಷ್ಟು ವಿಶೇಷವಾಗಿಸಲು, ಇಂದು ನಮ್ಮೂರ ಹೆಮ್ಮೆ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮದಲ್ಲಿ ಬೆಂಗಳೂರಿನ ಪ್ರತಿಭಾವಂತ ಯುವ ಸಾಧಕರನ್ನು ಗೌರವಿಸಿ, ಅವರ ಸಾಧನೆಯ ಹೆಮ್ಮೆ ಮತ್ತು ಸಂತೋಷವನ್ನು ಇಡೀ ಬೆಂಗಳೂರಿನೊಂದಿಗೆ ಹಂಚಿಕೊಂಡೆವು.

What a difference!

Small things. Small improvements. But still, progress.

A friend sent me these photos with a simple message:
“This place in Babusapalya, next to the school, used to be a massive dumping spot. Was surprised to see this cleaned up today.”

It may seem like a small change, but it still makes a difference to the people around here.

Progress doesn’t always have to be big or dramatic. When the challenge feels daunting, perhaps we should take encouragement from the small wins—from knowing that even a little change can make life better for a few people. And work towards solving the problems of others.

Small changes matter. And they add up.
