Dolly Parton: “You can never get enough books into the hands of enough children.” 💜
Rest in peace to a true champion of books 📚 and childhood literacy.
The Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge after sunset at about 8:30 p.m. tonight—when it still was about 100 degrees outside—as seen from the West End in downtown Dallas. @wfaaweather

High of 109 yesterday in Dallas 🥵. This morning, I watered my struggling backyard magnolia trees and Japanese maples. Somehow, we have some blooms on our shaded patio. @wfaaweather#Texas#weather
My son’s first school library 📚 assignment is just the cutest! So thankful he has a beautiful school library to enjoy. ❤️ @DISD_Libraries@DISDLibDirector
Congressman Marc Veasey presented a $250,000 federal community project check to the Dallas Public Library Dallas West Branch 📚 Wednesday to support technology upgrades in classrooms and computer areas.
At a time of budget challenges, this investment is much appreciated. 👏
I love the book art at the Half Price Books flagship store in Dallas 🦚. Check out the many pieces crafted from book 📖 pages perched on the shelves. I love this store so much, and of course I walked out with some books 📚 for the kids and myself when I visited yesterday!
A preserved great horned owl 🦉 on display at the Dallas Museum of Natural History at Fair Park, thanks to the wonders of taxidermy.
The museum is now open on Sundays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Admission is free thanks to volunteers from the North Texas Master Naturalists.
Venus shining brightly above a crescent moon 🌙 last night. I took a short walk once it was dark, hoping for cooler temperatures (a failed effort, since it was still 95 degrees out! 🥵) But the unexpected treat was this beautiful night sky over Dallas. 🌌 @wfaaweather
The last day of NorthPark Center’s AutoShow is today (Sunday), and this bright-orange McLaren Artura Spider convertible is the standout. Priced at $256,680, it is displayed near the indoor turtle and duck pond. Car and Driver called the Artura Spider “the One to Be Seen In.” 🧡
@DallasParkRec@fairparkdallas My children loved seeing all the wildlife dioramas, and we’ll definitely be returning soon. Visiting brought back memories of childhood trips to Chicago’s famous Field Museum. It was wonderful to experience that same sense of discovery with my own children.
I wrote this piece for The Dallas Morning News because I was moved by the reopening of this incredible museum at Fair Park—the Dallas Museum of Natural History—14 years after it closed. The museum is open Sundays (10 a.m.-3 p.m.) and admission is FREE.

The building is located off the lagoon, near the Children’s Aquarium. This reopening is thanks to the passionate volunteers from the North Texas Master Naturalists who staff the museum on Sundays, and the Dallas Park and Recreation Department.

My favorite part of walking through my East Dallas neighborhood is appreciating whimsical details. I enjoy spotting the pops of character at peoples’ homes 🏡 . I’d never noticed this illuminated blue stained glass window before, but it really stood out at sunset 🌅 tonight.
Mirror reflection on a very still White Rock Lake on Sunday morning. The lake was calm, but the trail surrounding it was busy with people getting outside early to beat the heat.
We celebrated World Ranger Day Saturday morning at Tietze Park in East Dallas.
Thank you to our dedicated and hard working Dallas Park Rangers! 👏 🌳 @DallasParkRec@Rudy_Karimi
