Today, I joined @mayorofla, Supervisor @lindseyphorvath, and other state and local leaders at the 24th Annual State of the Community Luncheon. The event was hosted by the Northwest Valley Chamber.
This morning, I joined Los Angeles County officials and our public safety partners to emphasize the importance of wildfire preparedness, evacuation planning, and community safety.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department joined county officials and public safety partners for a press conference to emphasize the importance of wildfire preparedness, evacuation planning, and community safety.
As wildfire threats remain a concern, residents are encouraged to know their evacuation zones, prepare an emergency plan, identify multiple evacuation routes, and have essential supplies ready, including medications and items for pets.
An “evacuation warning” means prepare to leave, while an “evacuation order” means leave immediately. Residents should also keep roads clear for emergency vehicles and stay informed through official emergency alerts.
Preparation saves lives. Know Your Zone. Be Ready. Stay Safe.

A Century of Service
For 100 years, the Sheriff’s Information Bureau has served as a vital link between the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, the media, and the communities we serve.
As Sheriff, I am proud to celebrate this historic milestone and honor the generations of personnel who have helped build the Bureau into what it is today. I also want to recognize our dedicated personnel currently carrying that legacy forward and thank the countless media partners who have worked alongside us throughout the decades.
For a century, these relationships have helped us share critical information, tell our stories, and keep the public informed. I am grateful to everyone who has been part of this 100-year journey.
Here’s to a century of communication, partnership, and service, and to the next 100 years.
Today marks three years since Deputy Ryan Clinkunbroomer tragically lost his life while serving the community he dedicated himself to protecting.
Ryan was just 30 years old and had proudly served the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department for eight years. Throughout his career, he exemplified courage, professionalism, and an unwavering commitment to helping others.
We continue to honor Ryan’s devotion, sacrifice, and the lasting impact he made on his family, friends, partners, and our department. His loyalty to the people around him and his legacy of service will never be forgotten.
Today, we remember Deputy Ryan Clinkunbroomer and honor a life taken far too soon.
End of Watch: September 16, 2023
Never forgotten.
Today, our communities are grieving following two separate tragedies that claimed multiple lives, including the lives of @NBCLA personnel in a devastating helicopter accident.
I extend my deepest condolences to the families, friends, and loved ones of all those who tragically lost their lives. My heart is also with the colleagues of the NBC4 team and everyone impacted by these heartbreaking events.
On behalf of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, we stand with the families, loved ones, and communities affected by these tragedies as they mourn these profound losses. May they find strength and comfort in one another and in support of their friends, colleagues, and community during the difficult days ahead.
⚽️👏 Job well done!
Thank you to the Emergency Operations Bureau (EOB) personnel for the part they played in the Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA). It was a true privilege to support an event of this scale.
I’m especially proud of the amazing job my personnel did throughout the entire operation. Their professionalism, dedication, teamwork, and attention to detail ensured that everything ran seamlessly, without a single glitch.
Celebrating 80 Years of Culture, Community & Tradition! 🎉🇲🇽
This celebration was especially meaningful to me. I grew up in East Los Angeles, so being back in the community to celebrate my Mexican heritage and Mexican Independence Day made the 80th Anniversary of the East LA Parade & Festival even more special.
East LA will always be a part of who I am. Seeing generations of families come together, hearing the music, experiencing the traditions, and feeling the pride throughout the community brought back so many memories and reminded me of the culture and community that helped shape me.
For eight decades, this celebration has brought people together to honor our history, traditions, and Mexican heritage. Being able to celebrate this milestone in the community where I grew up was truly a full-circle moment.
Thank you to everyone who came out and helped continue a tradition that has meant so much to the East Los Angeles for generations.
47th Annual Labor Day Parade, Picnic& Rally 🇺🇸
I was proud to join the Wilmington community for the 47th Annual Labor Day Parade, Picnic and Rally.
Labor Day is an opportunity to recognize the hardworking men and women whose dedication and contributions strengthen our communities every day. It was great to see so many families, community members, labor organizations and local leaders come together for this longstanding tradition.
As Sheriff, I value every opportunity to connect with the communities we serve and recognize the people who work each day to make Los Angeles County a better place to live, work and raise a family.
Thank you to the Wilmington community for the warm welcome and for allowing us to be part of a tradition that continues to bring people together year after year.
For nearly three years, we have stood firmly with Ryan Clinkunbroomer’s family and with the dedicated men and women of our Palmdale Sheriff’s Station. Throughout this time, we have remained steadfast in supporting this investigation and doing everything we can to assist the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office in pursing justice and holding this individual accountable for the ambush murder of Ryan.
Today’s verdict delivers justice and accountability. While nothing can bring Ryan back to his family, his loved ones, or our LASD family, we hope this verdict brings a sense of peace and closure to those who loved him and served alongside him.
Ryan dedicated his life to service, proudly carrying on his family’s legacy as a third-generation member of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. We will forever honor his service, his sacrifice, and the badge he proudly wore. Deputy Ryan Clinkunbroomer will never be forgotten.
On behalf of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, I would like to extend my sincere heartfelt thank you to the @chargers for hosting an incredible "First Responders Game" event.
It was an honor to unite with fellow law enforcement personnel, firefighters, paramedics, and other first responders for a day filled with camaraderie, as well as to engage with community members during an exhilarating football game.
Occasions like this serve as a reminder that beneath the uniform and badge, there are individuals who are committed to serving their communities with pride.
Thank you @chargers for expressing your gratitude to all the "First Responders" who dedicate themselves to our communities daily.
Sheriff’s Youth Foundation Fundraiser: Shooting for the Future
This afternoon, the Sheriff’s Youth Foundation (SYF) hosted a fundraiser at the LA Clay Shooting Sports Park. I’m truly grateful for the opportunity to attend and want to extend my appreciation to every volunteer and sponsor who dedicated their time and resources to support the foundation. Events like this play a vital role in empowering our youth by helping fund mentorship initiatives and after‑school programs throughout Los Angeles County. Through SYF, young people gain access to experiences and opportunities they might not otherwise have.
In addition to thanking our sponsors, volunteers, and SYF board members for making this event a success, I’d also like to recognize California native and six‑time Olympic shooter, Kim Rhode. Thank you for taking the time to speak with the kids and share your inspiring story. Your presence made a lasting impact.
It was a great evening at the California Contract Cities Association Annual BBQ, spending time with our Contract City partners and community leaders from throughout the region.
The annual BBQ provides an opportunity to connect outside of our day-to-day responsibilities, catch up with familiar faces, and continue strengthening the relationships that are so important to the communities we serve.
Our partnership with our Contract Cities goes far beyond providing law enforcement services. It is built on communication, trust, and a shared commitment to keeping our communities safe. Opportunities like this allow us to continue building those relationships while enjoying an evening of good food, conversation, and a little friendly competition.
Thank you to the California Contract Cities Association for bringing everyone together and to our Contract City partners for their continued collaboration and support of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. We are proud to work alongside you and look forward to continuing these partnerships throughout Los Angeles County.
This morning, I had the opportunity to speak with Good Day LA and provide information on the use of Automated License Plate Readers (ALPR) cameras and how they can assist deputy personnel with continuing to keep our community safe, street takeovers, and the recent copper wire thefts.
Thank you to the @FOXLA crew for their hospitality and providing an open platform to discuss our County's safety.

I attended the Los Angeles County Regional City Summit, where I joined local leaders for an important conversation about immigration and the impact it has on communities throughout Los Angeles County.
I appreciated the opportunity to hear directly from city leaders, share my perspective, and discuss the concerns we’re seeing in the communities we serve.
Conversations like these are important. Listening to one another and keeping an open dialogue helps us better understand the needs of our communities and continue building trust with the people we serve.
Dena Community Backpack Giveaway 🎒📚
It was an honor to join the community at the Rose Bowl for the 3rd Annual Dena Community Backpack Giveaway and help send our students back to school prepared for success.
Events like this get kids excited about going back to school, and that’s important. We have to continue encouraging our students to stay in school, work hard, and do their best. When we invest in our youth, we invest in the future of our communities.
Thank you to the organizers, volunteers, and community partners whose generosity made this day possible. I wish every student a safe, successful, and rewarding school year.
There's nothing better than seeing neighbors come together.
Thank you to everyone who joined us for National Night Out in Santa Clarita. This event is a chance to step away from our day-to-day routines, meet the people behind the badge, connect with your neighbors, and strengthen the partnerships that help keep our community safe.
We enjoyed the conversations, meeting so many families, and spending the evening with our community. Thank you to everyone who stopped by. We appreciate your support and look forward to seeing you again soon.
