Not sure how that makes those artists true independent. gamma, Larry Jackson's $1B+ backed company, made a big pitch to investors about the opportunity in music.

Many catalog deals have been for artists from the 70s and 80s. Jackson's pitch is that "shallow catalog" from the 2010s, and 2000s and 90s, is overlooked.

gamma is a bet on frontline music from artists like Sexyy Red and 4batz, but also new releases from Usher, Rick Ross. Investors in gamma include Apple, Eldridge Industries, Alpha Wave Global, and A24.
