À l’occasion du 62ᵉ anniversaire de la Commission du Bassin du Lac Tchad (CBLT), nous célébrons plus de six décennies d’engagement au service de la coopération régionale, de la paix, de la sécurité et du développement durable dans le Bassin du Lac Tchad.

Depuis sa création le 22 mai 1964 à Fort-Lamy (aujourd’hui N’Djamena), la CBLT œuvre sans relâche pour renforcer la solidarité entre les États membres, promouvoir la gestion durable des ressources en eau et renforcer les moyens de subsistance des populations de la région.

En cette journée commémorative, rendons hommage à la vision des pères fondateurs ainsi qu’aux efforts continus des États membres, partenaires et acteurs engagés pour un Bassin du Lac Tchad résilient, pacifique et prospère.

Ensemble, poursuivons notre engagement pour un avenir de coopération, de dialogue et d’espoir au service des générations présentes et futures.

Honoured to pay a courtesy visit today to H.E. President Faustin-Archange Touadéra of 🇨🇫, in the city of Bangui. During our meeting, the Commission reaffirmed its commitment to deepen cooperation for peace, resilience and sustainable development across the Lake Chad Basin.

@lcbc_cblt reiterates it's support for the Central African Republic’s development priorities and pledged closer collaboration to protect our shared ecosystems and livelihoods across the Lake Chad Basin region.

Earlier today in Bangui, I held productive discussions with H.E. Christian Sedat, the German Ambassador to Cameroon, the Central African Republic, and Equatorial Guinea.

While appreciating the Ambassador for the fruitful meeting, @lcbc_cblt acknowledges the German Government’s steadfast support through GIZ in promoting effective water-resource management in the Lake Chad Basin and strengthening resilience among vulnerable communities in the region.

I had the honour of paying a courtesy visit to H.E. Gervais Mbata, Minister of Water, Forests, Hunting and Fishing of the Central African Republic, at his office in Bangui 🇨🇫.

@lcbc_cblt acknowledges the steadfast commitment of the Government of the CAR and all Member States of the Commission to strengthening regional cooperation, promoting sustainable management of shared water and forest resources, and supporting initiatives that enhance biodiversity conservation and community livelihoods.

Led by the @lcbc_cblt and funded by @AfDB_Group , this strategic initiative sets the foundation for restoring the ecological & economic functions of the Lake Chad Basin-home to over 45 million people.
Over the next 4 days, Experts, Member States & Partners will align on actions to strengthen water management, climate resilience & sustainable livelihoods across Cameroon, Niger, Nigeria, Chad & CAR.
