#NationalIndigenousLanguagesDay celebrates the rich linguistic heritage of Indigenous peoples. Essential to identity, tradition and history, these languages carry the memory and diversity of First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples.

As a sign of reconciliation, let's take a moment to learn a few words of a local Indigenous language. This simple, yet significant, gesture fosters respect, brings cultures closer together and contributes to their preservation.

Together, let's honour this day by valuing linguistic diversity and supporting the transmission of these precious languages to future generations.

À l’Ambassade de France avait lieu la remise de l’Ordre des Palmes académiques à Madame Roda Muse. C’est dans un esprit festif et appréciatif que nous avons reconnu son parcours de vie et sa carrière consacrée à l’éducation, à la culture et au fait français. Son optimisme mobilisant, sa générosité et son engagement indéfectible font d’elle une force transformationnelle, une bâtisseuse de ponts et une alliée de la Francophonie ontarienne et internationale. Mes plus chaleureuses félicitations @YasmorRod. Et un grand merci à son Excellence l’Ambassadeur de France au Canada, Monsieur Michel Miraillet @mraillet pour son accueil des plus chaleureux.

I had the pleasure of meeting the students of W.H. Morden Public School during the “Ship of Tolerance” activity. Their creativity was on full display as they shared sail designs filled with messages of hope, harmony, and peace. Created by artists Ilya and Emilia Kabakov, this international art project invites young people to engage in dialogue, express themselves through art, and imagine communities that are inclusive, caring, and resilient. In May 2025, a striking 18-metre boat featuring the students’ colourful sail designs will be docked in Gairloch Gardens in @townofoakville. Interested in getting involved? The @ClubCanadienTO brought together key players in Ontario’s Francophonie for an engaging conversation led by Sabine Soumare, featuring Ambassadors His Excellency Patrick Van Gheel (Belgium), His Excellency Gorgui Ciss (Senegal), His Excellency Bafétigué Ouattara (Côte d’Ivoire), and @ZahraSagal, Representative of the @OIFrancophonie for the Americas. Un vrai bonheur de retourner à mon Alma Mater @uOttawa et de revoir le recteur Jacques Frémont @recteurUOpres, la présidente du Bureau des gouverneurs @JenAdamsEd ainsi que plusieurs étudiant·e·s et professeur·e·s.

Nous avons échangé sur les initiatives novatrices qui façonnent l’avenir de l’apprentissage, de l’enseignement et de la recherche en français. La visite du Centre Innova nous a permis d’enregistrer une vidéo holographique, de tester un environnement virtuel pour la formation du personnel enseignant et de voir un espace recréant la Cour Suprême du Canada pour y expérimenter l’argumentation juridique. Ce Centre est un lieu où technologie et IA dynamisent complètement l’environnement pédagogique tout en renforçant l’accès au savoir. Merci à Hubert Lalande, Yves Pelletier et Étienne Trépanier pour cette exploration des plus captivantes.

Nous avons pu également marcher le tout nouveau Pavillon des sciences de la santé. Merci à la doyenne et professeure Lucie Thibault pour son accueil et le tour guidé mettant en valeur la recherche, l’innovation et les laboratoires préparant la prochaine génération de professionnels de la santé.

Les moments forts de cette visite ont été les conversations inspirantes avec des étudiant.e.s, des professeur.e.s présentant leurs recherches dans le domaine de l’éducation (@Megan_C_K et Morela Moldoveanu) et l’entrevue avec Camille Cottais, rédactrice en chef de @LaRotonde.

It was an absolute joy to return to my alma mater, @uOttawa , and reconnect with President Jacques Frémont @recteurUOpres, Chair of the Board of Governors @JenAdamsEd, as well as many students and professors.

We had insightful discussions about the innovative initiatives shaping the future of learning, teaching, and research in French. Our visit to Centre Innova gave us the opportunity to record a holographic video, explore a virtual environment designed for teacher training, and step inside a recreated Supreme Court of Canada courtroom to experience legal argumentation firsthand. This cutting-edge space is revolutionizing education by harnessing technology and AI to enhance learning and expand access to knowledge. A big thank you to Hubert Lalande, Yves Pelletier, and Étienne Trépanier for an absolutely fascinating tour.

We also had the chance to walk through the brand-new Faculty of Health Sciences building. Many thanks to Dean and Professor Lucie Thibault for the warm welcome and guided tour, highlighting the groundbreaking research, innovation, and state-of-the-art laboratories preparing the next generation of healthcare professionals.

Some of the most memorable moments of this visit were the inspiring conversations with students, as well as discussions with professors @Megan_C_K and Morela Moldoveanu about their research in education. I also had the pleasure of sitting down for an interview with Camille Cottais, Editor-in-Chief of @LaRotonde.

Dans le cadre du #MoisDeLaFrancophonie, ce fut un honneur d’ouvrir la conférence annuelle Bastarache, rendant hommage à l’honorable Michel Bastarache pour son engagement envers l’accès à la justice en français et les droits des francophones à recevoir un enseignement dans leur langue et à administrer leurs propres établissements scolaires.
Un grand merci à l’honorable Marie-Paule Charette-Poulin pour sa conférence inspirante sur l’importance des relations dans la réussite, un message essentiel pour toutes les générations et tous les secteurs.

As part of #FrancophonieMonth, it was an honour to open the annual Bastarache Conference, paying tribute to the Honourable Michel Bastarache for his dedication to access to justice in French and the rights of Francophones to receive education in their language and manage their own schools.
A heartfelt thank you to the Honourable Marie-Paule Charette-Poulin for her inspiring talk on the importance of relationships in achieving success, an essential message for all generations and sectors.
I want to acknowledge those who carry on this legacy and strengthen the presence of both official languages in Canada, and express my gratitude to the law students in attendance who travelled from across the country. Your commitment ensures that justice in French is the norm, not the exception.

I had the privilege of presiding over the swearing-in of the Honourable Doug Ford as the Premier of Ontario and of members of the Executive Council of Ontario (Cabinet).

#DYK: The Lieutenant Governor appoints members of the Executive Council on the advice of the Premier. Following the oath-taking, she entrusts the Great Seal of Ontario to the Minister of Public and Business Service Delivery and Procurement. Created in 1870, this seal authenticates official documents issued in the name of His Majesty the King in right of Ontario, in accordance with the Westminster systemand Canada’s constitutional monarchy. This morning at 11 a.m., I'm taking part in the Francophonie flag-raising ceremony at City Hall Toronto, with Toronto's Francophone and Francophile community. We're celebrating a language we hold dear!

As Lieutenant Governor, I am honoured to serve as the Colonel of the @QYRangers Regiment. It was a true privilege to celebrate with them at the Toronto Garrison Ball—an evening of camaraderie, pride, and deep respect for military traditions. The Queen’s York Rangers have an impressive heritage, dating back to the Seven Years’ War (1756–1763). Under the command of John Graves Simcoe, the first Lieutenant Governor of Upper Canada, they exemplified an extraordinary sense of duty. Today, their service to our province and country remains as vital as ever. We are deeply grateful for their unwavering commitment. THANK YOU from the bottom of our hearts!

We reflected on the challenges we’ve faced, the lessons we’ve learned, and the invaluable role women play in shaping more compassionate societies. Our conversation reinforced the power of sharing experiences, building strong support networks, and paving the way for future generations. Yesterday, I had the pleasure of attending the interfaith Commonwealth Day service at Yorkminster Park Baptist Church. A historic moment marked the occasion as we sang the new hymn, Crathie, making Yorkminster Park the first church in Canada to perform it. Following the service, a special ceremony was held to present King Charles III Coronation Medals, honouring remarkable individuals whose contributions continue to uplift their communities, our province, and our country. #CommonwealthDay

Hier, j’ai eu le bonheur de participer au service interconfessionnel du Jour du Commonwealth à l’Église Baptiste Yorkminster Park. Nous avons vécu un moment historique en chantant le nouvel hymne Crathie, faisant de Yorkminster Park la toute première église au Canada à l’interpréter. Après le service, s’est tenue une cérémonie de remise de la Médaille du couronnement du roi Charles III, mettant en lumière des personnes remarquables dont les contributions enrichissent leurs communautés, notre province et le pays tout entier. #JourDuCommonwealth
