Attended the passing-out parade at Police Training School, Leh, and congratulated all the newly inducted personnel on the achievement.
The induction of 114 newly recruited SPOs will strengthen Ladakh Police in the newly created districts of Nubra, Sham, Changthang, Drass and Zanskar. Also congratulate 99 personnel who completed pre-promotional courses, taking on greater responsibility and leadership in the police administration.
Exhorted the new recruits to commit themselves to the service of the people with dedication and integrity.
Also, in line with our commitment for welfare of the police personnel, inaugurated 24 police family quarters and launched the Emblem, Flag, Logo, badges, website and Comprehensive Fire Safety Handbook of Ladakh Fire & Rescue Service.
These initiatives will strengthen personnel welfare, professionalism and Ladakh’s security and emergency response systems.
Inaugurated 100 Saksham ICT Labs at 100 Anganwadi Centres across Ladakh – 50 each in Leh and Kargil – marking a milestone in the Administration’s efforts to create stimulating, inclusive and technology-enabled learning environments for children at the grassroots level.
Under Mission Saksham Anganwadi & Poshan 2.0, these labs will make early childhood learning more engaging, interactive and joyful, through age-appropriate digital and audio-visual content.
Technology will complement play-based learning, helping children develop language, communication, cognitive, creative and motor skills, in a recreational setting.
Our aim is to use technology not as a substitute for human interaction, but as a tool to nurture curiosity, creativity and participation among children.
Today, in a first-of-its-kind initiative to strengthen participatory governance in Ladakh, I had the privilege of hosting nearly 200 Nambardars (village heads) at Lok Niwas, and had an engaging conversation regarding key developmental needs in villages.
The Nambardars brought up pressing developmental issues, particularly the acute water crisis in several villages, which I have assured them, will be addressed on top priority.
It was also encouraging to receive gratitude from the All Ladakh Goba Association for our recent decision to enhance their monthly emoluments from Rs 1500 to Rs 5000, the first hike since 2016.
These grassroots leaders serve as the vital bridge between the Administration and our citizens. Their first-hand insights and valuable suggestions have been instrumental in successfully implementing projects like Him Sarovar, rock check dams, and reversing land degradation.
We remain committed to holding such interactions in the future to ensure a responsive, people-centric, and inclusive administration.
I am pleased to announce an ambitious experiment of introducing saffron cultivation to Ladakh, for the very first time, on a large scale.
Building on the incredible success of our highest-altitude Lilium fields, we have sown 800 kg i.e 90,000 nos of premium, high-quality Iranian saffron corms, perfectly suited to our unique high-altitude agro-climatic conditions.
The saffron cultivation is being done over 4000 sq meters of previously barren land at Spituk Pharka in Leh, that has been successfully rejuvenated and transformed under project Him Sarovar.
This landmark initiative is driven by Hon’ble PM Shri @narendramodi Ji’s vision of agricultural diversification for farmers’ financial sustainability and financial empowerment.

Addressed the historic first “Raisina Forum for Future of Diplomacy”, today in Leh.
As India’s premier conference on geopolitics and geoeconomics, this Forum brough together diplomats, policymakers, business leaders and strategic thinkers, from India and 39 countries around the world.
I underlined Ladakh’s unique strategic importance, as a vital frontier, where global diplomacy, security, and sustainable development converge, against the backdrop of its unique ecology, harsh climates and a thriving, vibrant culture. Also shared our transformative initiatives designed to empower local communities while preserving our fragile ecology.
From enhancing connectivity, boosting tourism infrastructure and strengthening local economy to securing our ecology and water resources, we are building an inclusive and resilient Ladakh, under the visionary leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister, Shri @narendramodi ji.
Building on today's forum, I also shared my vision and a strong desire to host the World Economic Forum in Ladakh soon, showcasing our sustainable growth model to the world.
In line with our commitment to ensuring long-term water security in Ladakh and following my recent visit to Kargil, I have approved four vital water-infrastructure projects worth Rs 3.20 crore for Kargil.
The projects include:
•Construction of tunnel at Apati Nallah.
•Construction of earthen channel for diversion of snow-melting water from Musbar Nallah to Sharcha Nallah.
•Two new water bodies at Barchay and Apati villages in Kargil, under Project Him Sarovar.
Also pleased to announce that we have released a fund of Rs 5 crore for developing the water infrastructure at Hunderman Village.
These projects would strengthen local water infrastructure by creating facilities for diversion, storage and better utilisation of available water resources, including snow-melt water.
By harnessing and storing seasonal snow-melt, we will be able to ensure a reliable, year-round water supply for both, drinking and agricultural needs of our people.
Addressed the concluding session of the “Youth Month 2026” and inaugurated a Rs 1.70 crore Futsal Ground at Spituk, marking a new milestone in our collective journey of youth empowerment.
Over the past month, the “7 Districts, 7 Sports” initiative has brought diverse sporting opportunities closer to our youth, ensuring equitable access to infrastructure and opportunities, and showcasing their immense talent, determination and endurance.
As we conclude Youth Month, emphasized that this marked the beginning of a sustained movement for youth participation and empowerment.
Ladakh’s young people are our greatest strength, and together we shall build a fit, healthy, skilled, disciplined and sporting Ladakh.
