Imagine being on the cusp of a special farewell on the final day & instead of making it all about yourself, you’re thinking about your former captain, everything he deserved, & the goodbye he never got. That says everything about @MoSalah . A special player, but an even better man. ❤️
They are not just 97 people. They are not just the 97.
They are mates, dads and lads, couples, parents, sons and daughters. They are people, loved and cherished.
Every one of the 97 people who died at Hillsborough has a story. Never Forgotten.
I don’t know if it’s just the echo-chamber of my Twitter algorithm but it really does feel, this season in particular, as though a hell of a lot of people are falling out of love with the Premier League. Crucially not with football as a whole but with the Prem particularly.
I love that the villain of the film is a child’s tablet. I love how it’s honest about the effect these devices have on kids: how they rob them of sleep, play, & friends. I hope it starts a discussion of the dangers of letting screens be babysitters. I hope parents will listen.
You don't have to agree with Jamie Carragher's opinions but as someone who grew up with him, the constant revisionism around his playing career infuriates me. Only one man has played more games for the club and he won nine major honours. Rightly considered a club legend.
@TheAnfieldWrap Some fair points, started off well (eg he's right about the choreographed/planned outbursts)...but got more spiteful as he went on and lost his head a bit near the end. The stuff about Chelsea and Egypt was totally unnecessary.
What a spine tingling video from our victory in Budapest
A moment celebrated all over Ireland, a moment witnessed by the world
I love my country so, so much 🇮🇪
Andy Robbo’s interview last night wasn’t an excuse or an attempt to explain anything. It was a mate missing his mate. For those who feel the players should be able to just crack on as normal, watch it and look at the hurt in his eyes. Diogo Jota’s tragic passing isn’t why we’re not playing well as a team, or why the system doesn’t work, or why we’re leaking goals and not converting. But it is a heavy weight weighing down on them.
Every chance we miss, someone will be thinking of Jots. When the song rings out someone will forget and look to the sideline for his appearance. When a goal is scored, someone will think, thats for you Diogo. When we play bad there’ll be players, like Salah who will carry that and feel like they’re letting Jota down. It is not an excuse, it’s a reality. And we need to realise that.
Most of us said at the start of the season. “What will be will be”. This is a transitional period and the players are mourning the loss of mate, a best mate. Be there with them. Be there for the them. And let’s be the shoulder they need and see them through this season, whatever comes.
We love you Liverpool, we do ❤️
