He had a long and successful career in the field of computational mechanics. He embodied what it was to be an academic and even more importantly, a superb human being. It was my honor to have known him all these years.
The LSU Dept of Civil & Env, Engineering (CEE) is saddened to learn of the passing of J. Tinsley Oden, a 1959 graduate in civil engineering and past inductee of the CEE Hall of Distinction, the College of Engineering Hall of Distinction, and the LSU Alumni Hall of Distinction.
“We are sad to hear the passing away of our dear friend, Professor J. Tinsley Oden,” said George Voyiadjis, CEE chair and Boyd Professor at LSU. “His legacy and monumental work in computational mechanics will live on and grow throughout our community.
