An ardent supporter of the death penalty and a fearless advocate for crime victims @akahancrimesto1 with @CrimeStopHOU says Robert Roberson needs a new trial!
“A new trial is the only way to ensure Nikki’s case is fully understood. Her story is honored and her death leads to better protection for children. Executing in the face of doubt does the opposite. It silences questions. It undermines trust and it leaves Nikki’s case as a warning sign of injustice instead of a catalyst for reform.”
What a great day to kick off Early Voting! Governor Abbott was here today to help get things started, and I’m at Trini Mendenhall Community Center with supporters as we work to get out the vote! There’s still an hour and a half left on the first day of Early Voting. If you haven’t voted yet, make a plan and head to the polls! I would be honored to have your vote in my reelection.
Proud to be endorsed by Texas Crime Victims United (TCVU)! Thank you to TCVU for your support and for recognizing my commitment to crime victims, survivors, and their families. I will continue working to strengthen public safety and ensure the voices of crime victims are heard in Austin.
Today is Domestic Violence Survivor's Day in the state of Texas. I am proud to have authored and passed HCR 8, officially recognizing this day on the third Monday in October. Domestic violence isn't just the obvious black eyes and bruises, but also includes emotional, psychological, financial, and religious abuse that can leave survivors with PTSD and other lifelong impacts. Domestic Violence is so insidious that victims often don't recognize that it's happening until it's too late. Leaving an abuser is incredibly dangerous, even with no known prior physical violence. Even after leaving, many survivors face bullying, intimidation, harassment, tracking, and stalking. Many courageous survivors who escape abuse are left without financial support, and need help with housing, work, transportation, and more. While we stand with victims and survivors every day, this special recognition provides an opportunity for communities to come together to provide support for those rebuilding their lives after suffering abuse. Let us continue supporting survivors and let them know they are not alone. It’s incredible to work with wonderful organizations like the @TexasCouncilFV who advocate for survivors. I am thankful for the support of my colleagues in passing HCR 8.

I’m proud to work alongside Houston City Council Member Amy Peck and the City of Houston to secure $1 million for the Haden Park Revitalization Project. This 12-acre park will be transformed into a vibrant community gathering place, with improvements including small and large dog parks, pickleball courts, an event lawn and stage, a butterfly garden, restrooms, and off-street parking. Investing in our parks means investing in our families, our neighborhoods, and our quality of life.
I was happy to attend the Texas Firefighter Cancer Study symposium alongside Mayor John Whitmire and Dr. Jooyeon Hwang, lead researcher from UTHealth Houston School of Public Health. With more than 700 Texas firefighters participating, this critical research aims to reduce harmful exposures and improve early detection. I am proud to support this important work by helping secure $5 million for the research and to be supported in my reelection campaign by firefighters across Texas.
This session, I secured $1 million for upgrades and repairs at Agnes Moffitt Park Pool. This neighborhood facility serves our community and also provides a valuable training site for our first responders. Investing in our parks and supporting those who keep our community safe are both important priorities for me. I enjoyed partnering with Council Member Amy Peck and the COH.
I am grateful to Representative Hull for securing this funding and understanding the importance of this project! The Spring Shadows Drainage & Paving Project is finally moving forward!!
Last week, my office partnered with @SBCHChealth to offer free health screenings for the community, and to share information about local assistance organizations and the Double Up SNAP program. Thank you to Spring Branch Community Health Center for hosting the event at their new campus on Long Point, and for all they do! While we were there, I got to see some of the construction on the inside and the changes that they’re making to be able to better serve the community. Thank you also to the Fair Haven food pantry for joining us.

I secured $5 million for the Spring Shadows Drainage & Paving Project to improve neighborhood drainage and infrastructure. Investing in drainage and infrastructure is essential to protecting our communities and improving flood resilience. I was happy to partner with Houston City Council Member Amy Peck and the City of Houston on the Spring Shadows Drainage & Paving Project to address these important infrastructure needs.
Terrace Elementary School is currently building a state of the art update to their campus. While the 2017 Spring Branch ISD bond is covering the build of the new school, their PTA is partnering with the Spring Branch Education Foundation to raise funds to enhance the new school building's outdoor learning spaces. They are raising funds specifically for playground shades, benches and tables. It was great to join @amogyinc for a tour of their Athena facility, and to learn more about the innovation they are working on for scalable ammonia-to-power technology. Thank you to their team for having me as the first elected official to visit the Houston facility, and for sharing your story with my office. Glad to have them in the district!
📢 This week, October 12th - 18th, is free college application week for Texas public universities and state, technical, and community colleges! I am proud to have voted for Senate Bill 2231 last session that established the second week of October as a free application week for Texas students.
Great meeting so many neighbors while blockwalking today! Thank you to everyone who took the time to visit with us. A friendly reminder: Early Voting is October 19–30, and Election Day is November 3! It was wonderful to meet with constituents to discuss veteran workforce and energy security issues ahead of the next legislative session, in a roundtable discussion hosted by Project Vanguard. Thank you to those who joined us for sharing your personal stories, for your service to our nation in the US Armed Forces, and for your engagement in the legislative process.
