What they are saying is destroy workers’ Charter rights to appease Donald Trump and the big corporations in Canada owned by American shareholders.
They can pound sand.
Not on our watch.
Senator @WellsDavid: not only is this an affront to the Charter rights of workers it completely misses how collective bargaining transforms society for the betterment of all.
But perhaps that is the point. Big corps with American shareholders are cheering you on tonight.
Unifor is appalled by the recommendations issued in a recent report by the Senate Committee on Transport and Communications, which advocates for the imposition of labour contracts in the marine and transportation sectors through binding arbitration, instead of through collective bargaining.

I heard Jamieson’s speech.
It was a clear-headed presentation of the problems facing the Canadian auto industry.
I disagree with the conclusion here on China.
They don’t want auto roots in Canada they want market dominance and access to the US. https://t.co/ZdP1ciVWoN
Workers are facing a crisis and their unions are fighting everyday to protect jobs.
These Senators think it’s ok to exploit this very difficult moment and try to roll back workers rights.
Capitulating to big corporations over workers. Just shameful.
Great chatting with you on all things auto and trade and for me most importantly, the workers and communities who depend on this incredible industry.
Special thanks to @APMACanada for the invite.
Unifor members were well-represented at this year's Canadian Screen Awards @TheCdnAcademy, w/ noms and wins across journalism, sports broadcasting & TV production. Special congrats to NABET 700-M members whose work on #HeatedRivalry contributed to the series' remarkable 16-award sweep!
Canadian oil makes up ***62%*** of the amount of oil the U.S. imports and ***25%*** of every barrel that goes into U.S. refineries. how's that for "energy independence"? let that sink in.

Local news matters. Exempting U.S. streaming giants from supporting Canada’s media system puts journalism jobs and community news at risk. Unifor is urging the government to reconsider.

At #ARC2026, @Lanampayne delivered a clear message: when workers face uncertainty, corporate greed & political attacks, we don’t back down - we organize. We’re all worth the fight!
Organizing was a big topic during this afternoon’s panel at ARC 2026. Delegates heard from Local 2121 about their newly organized workplace and the challenges faced when bargaining a first contract.
Atlantic delegates heard a panel of union members from across different industries in the region have a meaningful discussion about the fightback in each of their sectors.
Whether it’s fighting back against closures, striking for better wages or holding employers accountable, every worker is worth the fight.
"Imagine for one second how truly bad things would be without Unifor's activism. Without the commitment and determination we bring. Without the fight we wage every day for a better world."
@Lanampayne delivered powerful remarks to delegates at the ARC 2026, reminding members that our union’s strength lies in our solidarity. When workers unite and fight back together, we can build a stronger future for everyone.
Day 2 of ARC 2026 is underway.
After a strong opening day filled with meaningful discussions, inspiring speakers, and solidarity in action, delegates are back and ready to continue the important work of advancing workers’ rights across Atlantic Canada.
“We’re All Worth the Fight.” That was the message from @JennMUnifor to #ARC2026 delegates. In a time of economic uncertainty, political division & attacks on good union jobs, Jennifer reminded us that our greatest strength is solidarity. We fight for each other & we win - together.
ARC 2026 delegates flooded the streets of Saint John today in a powerful rally to protect Atlantic jobs.
No matter the sector, workers across the region are all facing growing challenges. Together, our union continues calling on governments and employers to put workers first, protect good jobs, and invest in the future of Atlantic Canada.
Every day, workers face fights that go far beyond the workplace. This year’s Atlantic Regional Council video shares some of those fights our union has seen this past year. We’re All Worth the Fight, is a reminder that no worker stands alone.
When we stand together, support one another, and raise our voices collectively, we have the power to create change. Because every fight for workers is a fight worth having.
Jenn Murray fights for all workers.
Leading with her giant heart, determination and a fearlessness (and yes sometimes as she admits impatience).
She embodies the very best of our union.
We are all worth the fight. 🫶🫶🫶
