11 years ago when I started @Samasource, everyone told me it would fail. Fairly paid humans in the AI loop? In Africa? W/ global clients?

SO proud of the dream team that got us to a $14.8M Series A led by @ridgevc to power the training data revolution!

So refreshing to see a tech leader recognize Africa’s place as the next great economic powerhouse. 👏🏽👏🏽

@jack, we’d be delighted to host you @Samasource to meet our 3,000+ East African team!

[Sama @SamaAI]

Open invite to visit us in Nairobi, Gulu, or Kampala @jack!!

@JoshConstine Thanks so much, @JoshConstine ! I feel like this raise punched my cancer in the face 😉

[Leila Janah @leila_c]

Quick health update — thank you all for your support and love during this time 🙏🏽 https://t.co/da2aUNocQq

This photo of the #tickfire is haunting. How many heroic firefighters will have to risk their lives, how many acres will have to burn, how many families will have to lose their homes before the US takes serious climate action?

[LACoFD @LACOFD]

Tick Fire: 4,300 acres & 5% containment; see IC update for addt’l info on the LACoFD website at https://t.co/xbhTBYium1. To our residents, please continue to heed evacuation orders. The Ready! Set! Go! guide is available on our website. For fire updates, follow @LACoFDPIO.

“In a world older and more complete than ours they move finished and complete, gifted with extensions of the sense we have lost or never attained, living by voices we shall never hear. They are not brethren, they are not underlings; they are other nations.”

@thairu Does this mean you’re no longer a person of extraordinary ability? :)

[“Mark Berman” @markberman]

Wow, these anecdotes from the publisher of the @nytimes https://t.co/iDODZsVPqx

[Leila Janah @leila_c]

@moskov @JeffBezos @TheCut Maybe you should lead the coalition ;)

[Leila Janah @leila_c]

Couldn’t agree more, @JeffBezos. cc @TheCut

[Leila Janah @leila_c]

So sorry to hear this. @PacificStand will be sorely missed.

[Nick Jackson @nbj914]

Today is an extremely difficult day, the worst day—and I’m heart-broken and devastated. We learned this morning, without any warning, that our primary funder is cutting off all charitable giving and that our board is shutting down @PacificStand, effective next Friday.

[Sama @SamaAI]

Many thanks to @lowbrowkate for including us in this piece via @techreview. The AI supply chain conversation is an important one, and we're proud to be among the organizations ensuring the labeling industry is a positive force. #ai #ainews #dataannotation https://t.co/RhK7Pg0ERV

I haven’t been in the mood to write lately but did want to share something that keeps me excited: @lxmiofficial entered a conservation agreement with a community in the Amazon, led by an incredible local chief and in… https://t.co/It7EMFmrwS

@chrissyfarr @Doug_Lind_Say @r_prior This story inspires so many rare disease patients (like me). Doug, you’re a badass! 👊🏽🙏🏽

Did you catch @adamgopnik on @HenryLouisGates’s latest book? There was a moment just after the Civil War when we nearly achieved restorative justice for black Americans. But we didn’t hold confederate leaders accountable. The country regressed.

Telling.

How many potential medicines will we lose in felling the most biodiverse forest on Earth? And for what — cattle farms and timber? This is pure stupidity.

[Bill McKibben @billmckibben]

The numbers in this story--and their implications--are truly terrifying. It echoes this week's story of Trump drilling in the Arctic Wildlife Refuge. Acts of nihilistic vandalism, just for the sake of $ and of showing who's boss
