Massive thanks to @elliereeves MP for taking the time to visit our food bank welcome centre in Forest Hill. She spent time talking to staff and volunteers, getting an insight into the breadth of our work, whilst her caseworkers chatted to some of our visitors.
Another very happy little family who have benefited from our partnership with @acts435uk
Once again massive thanks to the donors who made this possible.
Emma earns £1,700/month from two part-time jobs. She pays £900 rent and £300 on bills. She has no car. Only cooks at home. No holidays. She shops only in Lidl. She’s cut back on everything already.
Telling people like her to “just budget better” is misguided.
She can’t budget with what she doesn’t have.
Well done to everyone from @LondonCityVoice for this afternoon's brilliant concert at @FoxFirkin raising much needed funds for @lewishamfood. What a fun time we all had 🫶🏻❤️
What an amazing day we had on Sunday for the @LondonCityVoice concert at @FoxFirkin Thanks to everyone who came along and raised so much for @lewishamfood ❤️ Just amazing
Pleased to see the Prime Minister announce disabled bus pass holders in England will be able to travel for free at all hours from April next year.
Disability doesn't run on a timetable - this is a welcome step in getting fairer access for the disabled community at all times.
Thought it would be kinda chic to get on the “kinda chic” bandwagon with demonstrating some kinda chic ways to get involved with your local food bank.

When Andy Burnham became MP there was only 1 food bank. But there's now over 1,400 food bank centres in our community.
Millions more people have been forced to rely on emergency food. This can't go on.
We're calling on the new PM to turn this around.
🚨 BREAKING: New PM Andy Burnham has scrapped VAT on electricity bills.
This is a helpful first step. But for people already struggling to afford the essentials, it won't go far enough.
Because people turn to food banks when they have no money and have run out of other options.
The government promised to end the need for emergency food. Now we need to see longer-term actions to make that a reality.
👋 Hey @andyburnham we’ve got an issue to put to the top of your in-tray…
2.6 MILLION emergency food parcels were provided last year.
This government promised to end the need for emergency food – and now you can do it.
Our food bank centre at Deptford Salvation Army is closing. We will be partnering with The Bear Church Mondays 2-4 pm from 14 Sept.
We’re grateful to Nick & Jane, and Lesley & Sue, whose commitment & leadership have been amazing. Excited for our partnership with the Bear.

Got a car & a little time to spare? Do you have a couple of hours once a month, and an empty boot? We’re looking for drivers to collect donations from New Cross Sainsburys and bring to our warehouse at SE6 2RP. A small act of kindness will make a big difference
There are 200+ volunteers working with us. They complete approx 640 hrs of work per week. If they were paid the London Living Wage it would cost us nearly £500k pa. We are grateful them all. They are all heroes.

Hunger is happening here in Lewisham. This #WorldHungerDay, we’re raising awareness of the growing number of people struggling to afford essentials. Food banks shouldn’t be the norm — but while people need us, we’ll be here.
💚 Donate, volunteer or share.
