Since its inauguration on 6 July 2023 in Baku, Azerbaijan, the HQ has served as a dynamic platform for fostering dialogue, strengthening cooperation, and advancing youth engagement across #NAM.

The Philippines National Chapter of #NAMYO successfully organized a lecture on #ClimateChange and the Law. The lecture brought together law students and professors, providing a valuable platform to discuss the legal frameworks, and responsibilities that guide climate action!🌿

A milestone for #Azerbaijan🇦🇿 at the #UN.

In just 11 days, Azerbaijani candidates were elected to three UN human rights treaty bodies, each receiving the votes of over 2/3 of UN membership:

✅ Fuad Zarbiyev — Human Rights Committee (131 votes)
✅ Farid Adilov — Committee on the Rights of the Child (130 votes)
✅ Elgun Safarov — Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women (133 votes)

🇦🇿 Azerbaijan will now be represented in 5 of the 10 UN human rights treaty bodies—ranking 2nd (together with China) globally among all UN Member States in terms of national representation.

Yesterday, #WUF13 officially kicked off in Baku, and on its first day, the Children and Youth Assembly brought together young people, experts, and practitioners to actively contribute to discussions on building more sustainable and inclusive cities.

As a partner organization, @namyouthorg joined the Assembly’s “Solutions Lab” sessions as analysts, supporting the co-creation of ideas and policy pathways emerging from the discussions. These conversations highlighted a critical reality: sustainable cities cannot exist without equitable access to housing, safety, decent work opportunities, and inclusive urban systems for children and youth.

The outcomes of these sessions will contribute to the Baku Call to Action, the 2026 Review of #SDG11, and the implementation of the #NewUrbanAgenda in the years ahead.

24 April is celebrated worldwide as the International Day for Multilateralism and Diplomacy for Peace established by the #UnitedNations General Assembly.

Azerbaijan remains a steadfast supporter of multilateralism.

✅In recent years, we have successfully chaired #NAM, #CICA & #BSEC, and few days ago assumed the presidency of #UNESCAP advancing dialogue & #cooperation across regions.

✅As a committed global partner, Azerbaijan has hosted #COP29 & will host, among others, #WUF13, the Annual Meeting of the #IsDB, World Environment Day & the CICA Summit this year.

✅The legacy of COP29 has further strengthened our engagement in #climate processes, including through hosting the next edition of Shamakhi Retreat of climate negotiators & UNFCCC-mandated Climate Week this September.

✅The trust by international community to Azerbaijan was also reflected in tangible outcomes at the international elections last year - Azerbaijani candidates won all 14 elections they contested.

✅We also continue to contribute institutionally, with the NAM Youth Organization (@namyouthorg), NAM Parliamentary Network & ECO Clean Energy Center decided to be headquartered in #Baku.

Azerbaijan will continue to contribute to #peace, #security, and prosperity through its active engagement in multilateral #diplomacy.

On #EarthDay, we are reminded that harmony between people and nature is essential to our shared sustainable and prosperous future. On Earth, in society, and in the relationship between #people and #nature, #harmony must prevail — otherwise, humanity will destroy itself. This message was already championed in the XII century through the poetry of #NizamiGanjavi, an outstanding representative of world literature and a great #Azerbaijani poet and thinker.
Today, his homeland carries forward Nizami’s vision through #COP29 and other global, regional, and national sustainability initiatives, and stands ready to address the urban-climate nexus at the next World Urban Forum (#WUF13), to be held in Baku from 17 to 22 May 2026 and to celebrate next World Environment Day on 5 June 2026 in Baku.

Venezuela National Chapter of #NAMYO hosted the University Youth Leaders Training Camp (Mar 27–29) in Sierra Nevada National Park, Mérida.

The camp brought together 30 young participants from leading academic institutions, creating a dynamic environment for learning.

Earlier this week a milestone decision was made to establish the #NAM Parliamentary Network’s Headquarters in #Baku 🇦🇿 during the 5th Conference of the Network, which took place alongside the 152nd Session of the #IPU in Istanbul 🇹🇷. With Baku also hosting the HQ of the NAM Youth Organization (@namyouthorg), this move further emphasizes Azerbaijan’s expanding importance as a key center for multilateral diplomacy, dialogue, and cooperation among countries of the Global South.

Today, NAMYO hosted @samedagirbas , COP31 Climate High-Level Champion, at its headquarters in Baku. The discussion focused on the road to Antalya and the important role of youth in advancing climate action through innovation, advocacy, and collaboration.

Youth have always stood at the forefront of protecting international law and defending human rights and dignity. Guided by the core values of the Non-Aligned Movement, respect for sovereignty, territorial integrity of states, non-interference in internal affairs, and the protection of civilian populations - #NAM youth continue to advocate for upholding justice, accountability, and consistent application of intenational law.

The tragedy of #Khojaly of 1992, marked by killings of hundreds of innocent civilians, stands in stark contradiction to the core principles upheld by the NAM youth.

On its 34th commemoration, I call on the international community to uphold its commitment to international law, human dignity, and the prevention of mass atrocities.

As we honor the memory of the victims with profound sorrow, our resolve to advance peace, justice, and humanity remains unwavering.
