This shouldn't need to be said, but in today's divisive world, especially here in social media spaces, it seems to be unfortunately necessary. I too have struggled with this from time to time but if we want to truly make the world a better place we need to be able to communicate.
@hoddles10@ivanhoecheek@FmrRepMTG A nuclear weapon. This isn't a difficult question.
If Iran had the full capacity to manufacture their own nuclear weapons, would they use them as a deterrent, as we do, or actually launch them against Israel and the United States?
If you think it's the former, you're a fool.
Did I say that there were no defenders?
I did not.
However, she is not a good player as she thinks she is. She misses what should be ready shots at the basket, sometimes 2 or 3 times, getting her own rebounds because the other defenders are apparently worse, before she either makes it or they finally get the rebound instead of her.
I'm saying she's good player, in the league, but not top 10, or even the top 20 player according to ESPN.
@KulhndLuke55@maggiemoda Calm down man.
Charlie did not hate Ben. What evidence do you have of that? They were friends.
You don't like Jews, obviously, but that doesn't mean Charlie and Ben weren't friends.
If they (MD) received federal funds and nothing is built, then you should be directing your ire toward the MD government.
Perhaps I am mistaken, but you did say that "the people of Baltimore want to tar and feather you, sir" when referencing the war in Iran which presumably means the POTUS but perhaps I misunderstood whom you were referencing.
You say we are a country in decline. I would agree with you, in certain respects, but not as a whole.
Then you conclude with talk of revolution and what it would mean to our leaders if there was a revolution. Slippery slope.
What a ridiculous comment.
As a European, perhaps you are not familiar with the foundation of the United States, but since you made the claim please by all means explain to me how exactly I am "rewriting history" to suit an "extreme ideology" that I do not subscribe to?
I am also a student of the Constitution, and probably know it better than you - likely by a long shot - so trying to frame this as if I am making things up is amusing.
As I said before, prove it. Show me the evidence of my rewriting history.
I'll wait.
@Fish_Flakes546@libsoftiktok@VP We were founded on Judeo-Christian values. This is well documented. While there is a "separation of church and state" and there is "freedom of religion" in this country, it is a fools errand to believe that at our core these are not our founding values.
Translation: I’ve identified where wealth exists, so I’m going to redefine taking it as “fairness.”
No crime is being alleged. No rights violation is being corrected. The entire justification is that someone has more, therefore the state is entitled to it.
Notice how “fair share” is never defined by principle, only by target. It’s not about equal rights under the law, it’s about unequal treatment justified by outcome.
One group produces, another is politically selected to pay.
And the quiet part: if this were actually about funding something effective, there’d be accountability for what’s already been taken. Instead, failure just becomes the argument for taking more.
So it isn’t about justice.
It’s about normalizing the idea that success is a liability and entitlement is a claim.
Stop trying to steal other people's money. The US Government should learn how to live within their means - unless there is an emergency (like a war) that requires significant influx of money ... even then you can sell war bonds like they did in the 40s.
Regardless Senator, your idea is horrible. You are suggesting that you just tax people for their net worth, which is not the same as their income, and we both know it. The whole "pay their fair share" mantra that you espouse is also ridiculous given how much of the total tax revenue comes from the top 1%, 5% and 10% income earners in America. Musk has paid more in income taxes than most families will do in their entire lifetime - in one year.
Also, the US Government does not belong in the healthcare business, or the education business, or the daycare business ... or any number of other ideas you espouse.
Read the US Constitution.
The role of the Federal Government is laid out very clearly. The State and Local government is responsible for basically any "social" program that you espouse - see 10th Amendment in case you are confused.
Yes, but this applies to you too.
I know you have said that you would "flip sides" if there was a "good republican candidate in 10 years" (or however long) but this is being shortsighted by you.
If you actually agree with my point, then it shouldn't matter if it is 10 years or tomorrow.
When any POTUS does something I disagree with, I have no issue calling it out. It doesn't matter if I voted for them or not.
You said that you don't know any "good legislation" that Trump didn't warp.
First, the POTUS doesn't make legislation. He signs it into law. He can push for specific things he wants, but that power solely lies with Congress (legislative branch of government).
Second, besides what Cardigan B mentioned already, another thing that Trump secured in his first term was the FUTURE Act in 2019 which permanently reauthorized $255M/year in mandatory federal funding for HCBUs. Previously this was done the old/current way that Congress loves, kicking the can down with CRs. That year funding had actually lapsed which put financing those institutions in question. This was a bipartisan bill with his full support.
To me, this was an excellent piece of legislation.
This is not the only thing he did for HCBUs either. He took action via EO in 2017, trying to help them out but the funding didn't come until the FUTURES Act. He also singed the HBCU PARTNERS Act in 2020 which requires federal agencies to create plans for better HBCU participation in federal programs.
Since you seem to believe that everything he touches is horrible, please tell me how those two Acts were bad for America and in particular Black Americans and HCBUs.
Here is an area we can agree on and why I do not subscribe to either major party.
I am not big on party politics or voting "RED" or "BLUE" because they want to defeat the opposing group.
That's a losing fight and stupid.
Vote on issues. Vote for the person/issue that most aligns with your belief system. It is rarely, if ever, going to be a perfect match.
I have voted for Democrats and Republicans. I have to, as there are not often a lot of other options, but I also pay attention to policy and economics.
@c_ceranowicz@FomerCityBoy@theebaddiebey@darumakjo@PopBase Again you are speaking in generalities.
What does "deep shame for the current system" mean?
Capitalism? That is the economic system we have.
Constitutional Republic? That's our political system.
What system are you referencing?
You say "thorough documentation" referencing Trump not acting in nor respecting the Constitution.
Please be specific.
If you are referencing Iran, he does have Constitutional authority - up to a maximum of 90 days - to do that w/o Congressional approval. He has to notify congress within 48 hours, which he did to the best of my knowledge.
Again, broad statement.
You don't like Trump. Okay, that's fine.
You claim that there are pedophiles in the office. Plural. I assume you are implying Trump is one, without evidence, unless you are referring to Epstein which again I state nothing has been definitive to show he was involved with that. Since you used the plural form, I assume you have other names in mind too.
Who? Why? Evidence?
You should also not assume that the Democrats are free and clear of any wrong doing.
