Two teenage girls who spent nearly 30 terrifying minutes hanging upside down on an Oregon amusement park ride are now awarded $550,000 by a jury.
The AtmosFEAR ride at Portland's Oaks Park malfunctioned in June 2024, leaving about 30 riders suspended vertically as emergency crews scrambled to get them down safely.
The teens' families sued Oaks Park and ride manufacturer Zamperla, arguing the crisis was made worse by a lack of a safety plan. Jurors voted 10-2 to award each teen $275,000.
Oaks Park says it is grateful all riders are safe and that safety remains its "top priority."

Florida homeowner lifts her home 24 feet in the air following the 2024 hurricanes.
The homeowner in Pinellas County, Florida, says she doesn't want to deal with flooding again but doesn't want to move.
The project, set to be completed in December, will cost a whopping $575,000. The woman plans on adding a second floor beneath the current house.
"Typically we do 12 to 14 feet, sometimes ten. But 24 feet, this is the first," said Modern House and Building Movers worker Kristi Robinson.
"They will go in and they will form columns around this house. and when it’s all structurally engineered and where they’re supposed to be, then they’ll build the beams, and then they’ll start removing the columns."

Buffalo, NY police roll up on an altercation where a man has a box cutter and a pair of scissors.
As officers approach, one of the men involved in the altercation stabs an officer.
Officers attempt to detain him and he then attempts to flee.
The officer who was stabbed then performs an impromptu handgun ballistics test on the mans hip and leg with his Glock 17 pistol wearing a TLR-7A light.
The ballistics test causes the man, who is still unnamed by the city of Buffalo (we all know there's a reason for that...), to reconsider his life choices and he was arrested.
Both the officer and the human ballistics gel block were transported to the hospital.
I have no idea why the officer seemingly intentionally didn't shoot the man center mass but it is what it is.
Train accordingly....
