@RemaNagarajan @prabirkc This was the actual proposal in 2011/ 2012 by sibal. Later UPA govt decided to merge AIEEE and IIT JEE exams into two stage JEE exams; all medical entrances were proposed to be merged under NEET ambit.

@RemaNagarajan Since the implementation of national level single day exam, so many problems. Some states are having monsoon/rain/flood,some states face law and order problems like riot, some are facing elections. When seperate phase exam is organised, paper difficulty level varies. Court cases!

His name was Fali Sam Nariman.

He was born on January 10 1929 in Rangoon into a Parsi family. His father wanted him to join the Indian Civil Service. Financial constraints made that impossible. He chose law instead.

He stood first in his LLB at Government Law College Mumbai in 1950. He practised at the Bombay High Court for 22 years before moving to Delhi as a Senior Advocate at the Supreme Court.

In May 1972 the Government appointed him Additional Solicitor General of India.

On June 26 1975 Prime Minister Indira Gandhi declared the Emergency. Civil liberties were suspended. The press was censored. Political opponents were jailed without trial.

The next day Fali Nariman sent a one line letter of resignation.

He returned to private practice and never held government office again.

He argued hundreds of landmark cases across seven decades. President of the Bar Association of India from 1991 to 2010. Padma Bhushan in 1991. Padma Vibhushan in 2007.

The Indian Express called him the conscience keeper of the judiciary.

He died on February 21 2024. He was 95 years old.
