The new addition at Lynn Valley Elementary brings 145 more seats to support our growing community. It follows the 100 new seats that opened at Westview Elementary earlier this year & with even more space coming this fall at the new Cloverley elementary school 🏫✨@Susiechant_nvs
Thank you to all of the educators that work every day to create these welcoming spaces for our kids. Together we can continue building a province grounded in kindness and respect for everyone. ❤️🌈
🏳️🌈 Happy Pride Month! 🏳️🌈
Pride celebrations uplift and honour the progress achieved by the 2SLGBTQIA+ communities and are a time to reaffirm that hate and discrimination have no place in our province. #pride2026
Alongside our K-12 education partners, we reaffirm our commitment to supporting safe and inclusive schools where differences are celebrated and everyone can show up authentically.

We’re making life easier for Langfordians every day.
We’ve just announced a partnership for a new community centre that will be home to 73 new childcare spaces and a brand new Foundry Centre for young people and families right here in Langford.
We want to hear from you on the future of ChildCareBC!
Today we launched the ChildCareBC Engagement Survey to give providers, early childhood educators, and families the chance to have their say on future of child care in BC.

@GurpreetSSahota Hi Gurpreet - I was not referring to the motion, I was referring to Halford’s heckling afterwards. He should not be trying to politicize an issue this serious. They know this isn’t the process for a motion like this. They didn’t want it to pass, they wanted an excuse to attack.

BCSTA President Tracy Loffler, CEO Trevor Davies, and Deputy CEO Michael Rossi met with the Ministry of Education and Child Care staff in Victoria to discuss the motions passed by school trustees at the BCSTA 2026 AGM.
The meeting was an opportunity to delve deeper into member motions and priorities, help refine BCSTA advocacy efforts, and hear about the Ministry’s ongoing initiatives aligned with the motions.
The BCSTA also met with the Minister of Education and Child Care @lisabeare for a broader conversation on the state of school trustee governance in British Columbia.
Given the ongoing debate and proposed legislative changes in Ontario and BCSTA’s commitment to meet with both the Minister and the Opposition Critic, we were encouraged by the Minister’s reaffirmation of her support for locally and democratically elected boards of education and their unique co-governance relationship with the Ministry. Minister Beare also voiced her support for the professional learning, guidance and governance assistance provided by BCSTA.
Looking ahead, BCSTA staff will develop an implementation plan to guide motion advocacy throughout the year.
Thank you to Minister Beare and Ministry staff for their continued partnership and commitment to public education in British Columbia. We look forward to the work ahead.

Nothing makes a schoolyard feel more alive than the sound of kids playing. 🛝💙
I’m so excited that Blueridge Elementary is receiving $200,000 for a new accessible playground, the latest investment in safer, more inclusive play spaces for kids here in North Vancouver
@lisabeare
Nearly 900 new child care spaces have opened in 17 communities across BC so far this year, with another 12,000 in development.
Provincial funding is now available to help school districts create child care on school grounds where suitable space is available.
Today’s opening of the new Pitt Meadows RCMP detachment represents a strong investment in community safety and frontline policing.
This modern facility will give officers the tools and space they need to support local public safety priorities and continue delivering the high standard of policing this community relies on.
Thank you to the @bcrcmp, the @citypittmeadows, Katzie First Nation and all partners whose collaboration made this day possible.
Nearly 900 new child care spaces have already opened since the start of 2026! We know access to high-quality, affordable child care is a game changer for families, and we’re going to keep taking action to build a child care system that works for everyone. https://t.co/LxXZ3Ib5cT
More kids will have access to child care right where they already are thanks to new provincial funding for before-and after-school care on school grounds! 🎉 @jbtwickens
Child care providers show up every day for our kids, helping children thrive and families succeed as we work together to build a stronger British Columbia.
Please join me in thanking our wonderful child care providers for all that they do! ❤
Happy Child Care Provider Appreciation Day! 🎉
Today we celebrate child care providers for the vital role they play in supporting thousands of children and families across our province.

Since 2018, we've increased the number of early childhood educators, created new child care spaces and reduced fees - saving families thousands of dollars a year. This progress matters, and we're committed to keep building on it.
