@goldenpants013@RandA Confused how people are coming to Bryson’s defense. Did they not see how he stomped down the grass behind his ball like an elephant at least 4 times? This is the most blatant cheating I have ever seen on a golf course, as most do it but usually are way more subtle about it.
Tom Kim needs to go up a shirt size or two as he’s literally busting out of his current size. Think Incredible Hulk but way more blubber. Perhaps he just thinks it’s kinda sexy doing it his way. To each his own, but not a good look IMHO.
I thought Rory would take double on 18 out of the equation and hit a wood or hybrid off tee, leaving him short of left bunker and less likely to miss it right into the trees. Nantz asked Trevor if he agreed with Rory’s decision when he pulled head cover off, and Trevor’s two word response, “I do”. That was it…nothing more offered. More people were listening to Trevor at that moment than at any point the entire year, and that two word response was all he had.
Can’t wait for the Lowery presser today…if he does one. Shane is a super guy when everything is going his way. Not so much on days like today. Should be good theatre.
When will coaches learn that just because you’re in FG range doesn’t mean you should stop trying to advance the ball closer to the goal. Ravens had 12 seconds and could have run potentially two more plays. 44 FG is no gimme on a cold, 22 degree night. Lots of upside in picking up more yards.
When winds are gusting over 30 mph, I wonder when NFL head coaches will finally figure out that maybe going for a two-point conversion is the better way to go? Instead, they knee-jerk march out their place-kickers, setting them up to look like fools. In the giants game the kickers are 2 out of 5 so far, and they just won’t stop doing it.
In what universe is a 2-strike bunt attempt in an extra-inning game ever a good idea? Certainly not ours. Toronto actually tried this tonight with a man on first and 0 outs. I don’t know anything about their manager, but I’m a bit suspicious of him now.
Why do teams backed up near their own goal line start acting all scared and run up the middle three straight times to give their punter “some room?” It’s as if a safety is the ultimate humiliation and something that must be avoided at all costs. I mean, it’s only 2 points, and then you get the comfort of a “free kick”, so it’s practically an even swap. So teams need to start free-wheeling it from their own end zone as the penalty for messing up is extremely mild and nothing to be scared about. See Giants today, who on a 3rd and 8 from their own 4 heaved it downfield and got a PI penalty.
When the home captain sets up each of the 18 holes to maximize home team advantage at the Ryder Cup, you’re going to get blow-out after blow-out. Last 5 RC’s won by home teams by at least 5 points, which is probably the equivalent of two touchdowns or so in an NFL game.
This year, Keegan and company have reduced Bethpage to a $35 muni. I always thought New Yorkers took pride in how tough this course is? Not this weekend. See Bryson bomb 385-yard drives with absolutely no fear and then hit lil’ wedges to 2 1/2 feet.
Forget all the drama, says Keegan , let’s just win 18 1/2 - 9 1/2. Then we can over-celebrate with lots of insincere hugs between guys that don’t particularly like each other.
Just once I’d love to hear a captain say “We set up the course to be a tough, but fair test that doesn’t favor any particular style of play . Kind of how Bethpage Black usually plays. And may the better team win!” Yeah, right.
Now get off my lawn!
@TheTomCasale What if Houston returned kick-off to 50 and the KO returner was tackled with a face-masking penalty against Tampa. Wouldn’t Houston be able to take the 15-yard penalty and kick a 52 yard FG for the win as quarter can’t end with defensive penalty?
Venus returning to competitive tennis today at age 45. Perhaps I am naive, but I can’t see her opponent wanting to totally humiliate her so really liking Venus +7 1/2. Even a 6-2 6-3 beatdown will be enough for Venus.
Amazingly similar weather forecast for Open as the last time they played Portrush. Wind speeds 2019….15-10-9-15. Wind speeds this year 14-11-10-9. Prob of precip 2019 -60,70,40,60. This year 72,75,40,66. So a tougher Sunday in 2019, but other days practically identical. Pricing various props a breeze (pun intended).
I think I have seen that Nick Saban vrbo commercial over 300 times now. You know, the one where he rides the lawnmower and sits in the hot tub. Perhaps I need to get out more.
LIV guys who totally don’t care about golf anymore…..tie for 1st as to who cares the least…...DJ and Cam Smith. Tournament prep likely an x-large bucket 30 minutes before tee time and even then they probably don’t get through them all. 3rd place…..Brooks Koepka.
NOBODY was able to extend his arm with the ball before stepping out of bounds to pick up that extra half yard like Carr. Sheer perfection. No doubt he was the GOAT in this department, but sadly this department is often overlooked, as fans love the deep ball without truly appreciating what really wins ballgames. Carr knew, and he was like a surgeon when being chased out of bounds.
