George Orwell both built a dictatorship and fought it. He helped suppress Burma, became a Communist, took a bullet, became a DemSoc and reinvented himself as a crusader against totalitarianism, starting by filing denunciations with the British Foreign Office's propaganda dept.
@GadSaad Orwell was incredible.
However, as an idealistic young man, even he was initially captured by communism. Until he saw it firsthand in the Spanish civil war, he didn’t realize he was fighting for the bad guys.
At this rate, Rubio's going to need a whole new name in the Chinese language every time he mentions something that the Chinese government doesn't like.
On June 4, the world marks 37 years since the Chinese Communist Party ordered its troops to attack thousands of peaceful demonstrators in and around Tiananmen Square. Those who sacrificed to uphold their unalienable rights of free expression and peaceful assembly will be vindicated someday.
🇺🇸Few people know this, but Joe Biden has a rare superpower:
“Everything he touched turned to shit,” Donald J. Trump explained at CPAC last year.
The anti-Midas touch in action.
@dissproportion This story “I Have No Mouth, and I Must Scream” consists largely of brief, shallow scenes depicting the protagonists' torment, without really getting into the suffering. Any man who considers this among the most terrifying works doesn't know what fear actually is.
In any other country, this guy would've clung to power for 20–30 years, rewritten the constitution to suit himself, and declared himself Emperor of Mankind. But our global chief warden, Donald J. Trump, plays by the rules of the U.S system, and for that, he shows us great mercy.
Breaking news: Trump administration officials have pressed the Bureau of Engraving and Printing to design a $250 bill featuring the president’s portrait, in what would be the first appearance of a living person on U.S. currency in more than 150 years. https://t.co/S8sqdKSB7i
Atheists compete with Christians in terms of their morality according to Christian standards. It's astonishing that atheists try to be more Christian than Christians themselves. If Christ doesn't exist, then faith and all that Christian morality are pointless.
