Governor Walker and @LtGovDavidson thanked @AKNationalGuard troops at the Joint Operation Center this evening for their service to our state in this time of need. Their help is critical to having a smooth #AlaskaEarthquake response.
A reminder that Governor Walker will hold a press conference at 3pm updating Alaskans about the damage suffered from this morning's #AlaskaEarthquake. The press conference can be watched live at https://t.co/ISa2Qrueln #akgov#alaska
So far we've located about 40 aftershocks in the first 3 hours, ten with magnitudes greater than 4 and three with magnitudes greater than 5. A magnitude six is possible but not very likely. The chances of an earthquake as large or larger than M7 is small (~4%).
There will be a media advisory live-streamed on our Facebook page beginning at 2pm w Gov. Walker, Lt Gov Davidson & Major General Hummel to provide an update in the aftermath of the #AlaskaEarthquake. Watch at https://t.co/e0wN8x1aff

If you have a loved one in the Anchorage Pioneer Home or the Alaska Veterans and Pioneers Home in Palmer, rest assured. We have heard everyone is safe. There is some building damage, but minimal.
AWWU is responding to multiple water main breaks following today’s major earthquake. There is no reason to believe the water is not currently safe, but err on the side of caution. Please be proactive and boil you water if you have the means to do so. Updates forthcoming.
Anchorage Shelter Update: The Dena’ina Civic and Convention Center has lost access to utilities. Those that are seeking shelter and cannot reach their home are now advised to make their way to the Egan Civic & Convention Center.
If you are trying to contact loved ones affected by the #earthquake in Alaska, use text and social media to reach out. Phone lines may be overwhelmed and often, texts can make it through when voice calls can't.
