Made just for the book sold in movie theaters likely after promos/art were already made. Tom Carnase’s lettering too.

Lubalin was offered shares of film profit which he declined and took fee instead. He had no idea film would be such a hit.

Herb Lubalin’s The sound of music logo 1965. I think it was used for early PR material, the movie studio must have moved towards a more legible design.

@Madedigital This logo was made only for the commemorative book that was sold at the movie theaters. Most likely made after the posters were already designed. Also the lettering is by Tom Carnase.
